Many of you might have already been to Goa, for it has always been such a rage all over the world, not just in India. But if I were to ask you do you know the little secrets about the all so beloved place? The stories behind its beautiful way of life?

What if a local were to narrate all the cool stories that give Goa its uniqueness, like a mini history class about living in forever-land?

The one thing that is constant about Goa is the vibe. The always chilled out and all so easy-going as they say “Susegad” in Konkani, is that part of Goa that never goes old, says the local in his unique Goan accent. The people here are like no other, the tourist agrees. I remember my friend telling me that once when he visited the place, he found the people to be extremely warm and hospitable, he told me about an incident where a lady’s scooter wasn’t starting, and so many people went to help, including my friend, one of the local even opened the bike up and tried to fix it and he could, which was so cool and helpful. From then I knew the Goans are not just friendly, but also very hospitable and helpful.

When I asked the local what distinguishes Goa from the rest, he said, “Fish, Feni, and Football”!! And then he continued to describe the amazing Goan cuisine, and I couldn’t help but drool! A must-try is a dish called “Muscles”, one of my personal favourites but one can NEVER leave Goa without tasting the “Sausage-Paav” from Agassaim. Trust me, finger-licking’ good! And what more to say about the booze? It’s like heaven for booze-lovers! Not just because of the slashingly low prices, but also the local drinks like Feni, Uraak etc. are just WOW!

And the football scenes in Goa are just epic, where else can one play football on the beach and look at the horizon and admire the beautiful sunset at the same time?

Talking about horizons, well the beaches are like NO OTHER! Especially when one is spending their night in a beach shack, and can watch the waves kiss the starry sky goodnight. Have you ever experienced the beauty of a beach coupled with the view from a fort? Lazy, salty, wind still brushes my cheeks every time I think of that place. But one shouldn’t forget to visit the BEAUTIFUL churches with ancient architecture like the “Basilica of Bom Jesus”. Just those cute bright coloured bungalows instead of boring buildings never fail to light me up. Spending time in the field and just watching the crops dance to the wind is so relaxing.

And not to miss the rave parties that happen on the beach. Goa has become a hub for many EDM festivals like SUNBURN and SUPERSONIC. An EDM fan destination during December due to these cool festivals. And aren’t you forgetting the “Goa Carnaval”? asked the sweet local, and began describing the carnival. Decorated floats that parade the beautiful streets of Goa, this carnival was started by the Portugues but still lives on. The parades are a flamboyant affair, there are live shows, dances, people performing in masks and so much more.

Being a local in Goa, is like being a local in paradise.
