When it comes to business, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has not been doing quite well for the last few years. In the year 2019-20, the fully Government owned organisation witnessed a severe cash crunch which has hampered its employees tremendously.
It is claimed by BSNL employees that the state-owned telecom firm has not been paying salaries for the last 14 months and this has given rise to several problems.
Despite being an employee of BSNL for the last 24 years, Ripon Adhikary has not been receiving any salary for the past 14 months. In the last few days, the situation has gotten worse because of the massive outbreak of COVID-19. Unable to take care of his family during this crisis, the unfortunate father has put an advertisement on social media where he has shown his willingness to give away his two children for adoption.

In the Facebook post, Ripon wrote that despite working for BSNL for the past 24 years and having CAT’s order in employees’ favour, BSNL has not paid his salary for the last 14 months. As Ripon is no longer capable of funding the education of his children, who are academically gifted, he is willing to give them away for adoption. Ripon’s children are 18 years old and 6 years old respectively.
In his Facebook post, Mr. Adhikary clearly mentioned that his children are good at academics. That is the reason he wants to give them away for adoption to people who can help them continue their education. He said that he would be grateful to whichever kind couple will come forward and take responsibility of his kids.
On one hand, Facebook was flooded with posts and good wishes of Father’s day, but on the other hand, we see the troubled father who is willing to give up on his children for their own good.
The news of BSNL failing to pay their employees was the talk of the town from February 2019. But like any other important news, Indian media and audience forgot about BSNL and their employees. BSNL employees have been facing serious financial problems for over a year now, but there is no news regarding the same.
We tried to get in touch with Mr. Adhikary and when we asked him about his children’s thoughts on his decision, the helpless father quit the conversation with silence which was loud enough to make anyone feel the tremendous pain he is going through.
