Recently the poster for the debut film of Sridevi’s daughter and Shahid Kapur’s brother was released amidst much chatter.
Not too long ago, Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor made his debut with much fanfare in Rakeysh Om Prakash’s epic film Mirzya. And now there is a bevy of celebrity kids like Saif Ali Khans daughter and a few more making their own debut soon.
Now, it is nothing new of celebrity kids entering Bollywood what with a slew of such already having made a name for themselves like Abhishek Bachchan, Aliya Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and who can forget the Kapoor khaandan.
But what really made me take notice was the increasing frequency of this happening and more and more celebrity kids following in their parents’ footsteps.
Almost makes me think that this is typical following the family business thing that we Indians are known for. Just in this case, instead of a shop, we have the entire Bollywood.
It Is Not Mandatory
Sure, a lot of celebrity kids have gone on to have successful careers of their own and make a name for themselves.
But that does not mean that it is mandatory for everyone.
One of the biggest cases I have seen, would probably be of Abhishek Bachchan. Wait wait… before you all go off on me, I do sincerely believe that the Junior Bachchan could have had a happier life if he had gone into something other than acting.
Similarly, for a few other celebrity kids who entered Bollywood with big dreams too could have done better in some other field.
I am sure that the glitzy and glamourous lifestyle of one’s parents would be more than enough of an incentive but according to me, that is even more so why celebrity kids should make the decision of whether to enter Bollywood or not with care.
Because they know what the inside industry is like and how it will be for them.

Always Being In The Shadow Of Your Parents
Coming on to my second point would be that it is almost a given that the kid will be compared to their parents. No matter what they do, they will always have to carry the shadow of their parent’s success around with them.
Unless and until, the upcoming celebrity is able to truly do something drastically different from their parent and manages to establish their own place, then shaking that last name tag is one of the most difficult things to ever do.
That is why signing off, I would just say this to all celebrity kids who want to enter Bollywood and that would be ‘bring your A game and some fresh and creative ideas’.
