The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), a nodal agency under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has issued a warning for the users of Apple iOS. CERT-In has detected vulnerabilities in the software.
Apple is popular due to its security features which help users protect their privacy. Apple rolls out security updates regularly for all its devices. Still, there are security breaches as reported by CERT-In.
Security Features
Apple iOS keeps updating the security features frequently. The tech giant always encourages users to run the latest software build in order to have better access to security features and other applications.

The Silicon Valley-based company also releases patches for older versions of iPhones that are unable to update their systems due to hardware limitations. This helps the users to have fully secured access even if their devices get out of date.
What Leads To The Breach?
Many users choose not to update their systems due to their ease of use. However, this ease might lead the users into trouble. The older versions of iOS are prone to digital data exploitation.
Various vulnerabilities have been spotted in Apple iOS, which might lead to a breach of privacy for the users. Therefore CERT-In has issued high-severity warnings for iPhone users. This vulnerability allows the hacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted device for a specific period of time.
What Are The Consequences?
The threat is mainly limited to users who are using versions and builds prior to Apple iOS 16.4.1 and 15.7.5, respectively. According to CERT-In, “These vulnerabilities exist in Apple Products due to Out-of-bounds write issue in 10SurfaceAccelerator component, and Use after free issue in Webkit component.”
The cyberattacker can exploit these lapses in the system by sending a specially crafted application. These applications help in the execution of arbitrary codes on the system and the extraction of personal data from the system.
To avoid these types of cyber attacks, users should keep their devices up to date, as mentioned in Apple security updates. These lapses in the older versions can lead to the manipulation of personal data for private gains.
Online activities are an important part of one’s life, but with the growing technologies, data exploitation is also receiving a helping hand. The users must be aware of the lapses in the older versions of their systems only then they would be able to dodge its threats.
