Lights Camera Action!!! On Tuesday 14th January 2014 at MMRDA Grounds, Mumbai, the award season was kick started by the 20th Annual Life Ok Screen Awards. Yes Life Ok , a Star initiative has bagged the telecast rights for the 20th edition. All the biggies of the Industry attended the first award function of the season. Yet again the BAADSHAAH OF BOLLYWOOD, Shah Rukh Khan was the so called dost and host of the function. The stage was all set to honor the best and biggest of the Bollywood for the year gone by.
2013, the centenary year of Indian Cinema gave us a mix of films. From COMMERCIAL CINEMA like Chennai Express, Dhoom 3 to off-beat movies like The Lunchbox, Ship of Theseus. From NOVEL BASED movies like Kai Po Che, Ramleela to BIOPICS like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. It was also the season of SEQUELS – Aashiqui 2, Krissh 3, Murder 3 etc. And the box office collections were a good reflection of the year gone up, with some films garnering up to 300 crores and others struggling to create a mark. With the given variety, this award function is a must to watch out for this season.
The Screen Awards being the heavyweight every year, kept the ritual going of doing thinks hatke. The red carpet for 2014 had a special SELFIE BOOTH. Yes as we all know Oxford Dictionaries declared SELFIE the word for the year 2013. So Screen Awards had a special task for the stars, to snap themselves on red carpet. And yes the SELFIE PROJECT did turn out to be fun as we can see from the “SELFIES”.
The function had a host of performances from the B-town celebs Ali Zafar, Sonu Sood, Bollywood’s own Michael Jackson-Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and the “QUEEN of 2013”- Deepika Padukone to name a few. Talking about the winners, the rules were redefined yet again. Small budget films made it big at the function. MASALA FLICKS took a back seat and were calmly watching the off beats take the award. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Ramleela-Goliyon ki Rasleela dominated the occasion.
