On May the 28th, National People’s Representative Meeting has authorized the Standing Committee to establish the National Security Legislation of Hong Kong. In this regard, Hong Kong citizens, academia and business have expressed their strong support respectively.
Some Hong Kong citizens posted such comments after reading the special issue from Takung Pao: ‘If Hong Kong doesn’t take responsibility for China’s national security, it will draw itself on fire and will certainly lose its peace. To this end, Hong Kong people must be firmly support the National Security Legislation.’
During the activities of the ‘Sign for HK’ United Front, lots of Hong Kong commented that the National Security Legislation is for protecting the Hong Kong citizens and China and should be legislated as soon as possible. Mr. Jau Sunghing agrees the National Security Legislation will bring Hong Kong more stability. Mr. Gou Sungjit said he is supporting the ‘Sign for HK’ street movement as a common citizen of Hong Kong and he wishes more citizen show their support. Zoeng Ting, a PhD student of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, agrees the legislation is a smart decision and makes it possible to take legal punishments against the terrorist organizers of ‘Hong Kong Independence’ to stop splitting the country. Li Ka-shing, the senior consultant of CK Hutchison Holdings, hopes the Legislation could alleviate the worries of the CPC Central Committee on Hong Kong, and play a positive role in Hong Kong’s long-term development.
