Finally,the most awaited event of the year in which Apple was expected to launch its two new iPhones has taken place!!
Apple has announced its new flagship phone, iPhone 5s and a much-anticipated cheap model in its iPhone series, iPhone 5c at a media event at its Cupertino, California headquarters on Tuesday.
Talking about the iPhone 5s first, it will have the same size as its predecessor, iPhone 5, with a 4-inch screen. It will have the newest version of Apple’s Operating System, iOS 7. The phone has a 64-bit A7 processor and Apple describes iPhone 5s as “the first 64-bit smartphone in the world”. The device’s CPU and graphics are twice as fast as iPhone 5. In addition to the A7, the phone includes the M7 coprocessor which will measure the motion data, such as tracking movement.
But the biggest feature of the 5s is the built-in fingerprint sensor called the Touch ID which is a part of the device’s home button. There is a stainless steel detection ring around it, which detects whether your finger is on the button. You can unlock iPhone 5s merely by touching the sensor and you can even make iTunes purchases by using your finger to authenticate.
The camera includes a new lens and has a 15% larger active sensor area. There is a new flash called True Tone which solves the problem of clashing colour temperatures as there are two LEDs which work together to improve the photographic quality. Burst mode gives you ten frames a second. The camera has the ability to shoot 120 fps slow-motion video in 720p HD quality.
In terms of battery life, the iPhone 5s will get 10 hours of 3G talk time, 8 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of LTE browsing, 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hours of video playback, 40 hours of music playback, and 250 hours of standby time.
Pricing will be as follows: $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB, all on two year contracts.
iPhone 5s will be available in 3 colors- gold, silver and space grey.
But, if you like bright colors, you can go for iPhone 5c which is a cheaper model and is available in white, blue, green, rose and yellow.
Its casing is made of plastic rather than high-strength metal and the entire back and sides are made from a single part. It has a 4-inch display and 8-megapixel camera just like iPhone 5. It does not have the fingerprint sensor which is featured on iPhone 5s. But, like iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c will feature Apple’s new operating system, iOS 7.
This 16GB iPhone 5c will cost $99 and the 32GB will cost $199, both with a two year contract. Though it is not actually “cheap” but it is definitely less expensive than iPhone 5s.
It seems that Apple has launched iPhone 5c to conquer the markets in countries like India and China where majority of smartphone users have an Android powered smartphone which are made by Samsung. HTC, Micromax and others.
Both, the iPhone 5s and 5c will be available for pre-orders on 13th September and will go on sale to the public on 20th September.
Also, Apple’s iOS 7 will arrive on 18th September and it will arrive on iPhone 5, 4s and 4, and on the iPad mini, the second, third and fourth generation iPads as well as on the fifth generation iPod touch.
