New Delhi [India] October 21:The upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan may become the most interesting and discussed event in the world socio-political life, since the authority of the interstate association, as well as the status of the participants and the issues discussed, has grown significantly in recent years, and over 18 years of history, more and more leaders of states from different parts of the world see opportunities for their participation in the project for the sake of developing and strengthening economic and investment cooperation.

It is interesting that political, economic, as well as social and sports initiatives are being implemented in today’s BRICS, and today the union of states is a real alternative to the projects of a “unipolar” world and a powerful structure where global order, tolerance and justice are represented. At the moment, there is a whole “queue” of countries that would like to take part in BRICS, and these are not only representatives of the “global South”, but also European states: Serbia recently announced its desire to join BRICS, and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the possible entry of Turkey into BRICS this year. The calculation is clear: in terms of economic efficiency, the BRICS countries will surpass the G 7 states by almost one and a half times in terms of their share in the world GDP by 2028, the introduction of a new currency within the association, and other economic projects, including investment ones, are also being actively discussed.

The rapidly developing organization causes great concern among Western observers: the unification, according to experts, can greatly hinder the hegemony of the United States and the “collective West” in all areas, and above all in the distribution of important resources and control over financial flows and the general economic situation. In order to prevent the participation of a number of European and world countries in a number of projects, various attempts are being made to put pressure on some potential participants: for example, Serbia was asked to sign a “mandatory” energy project, and Mexico was reminded of its current trade relations with the United States, which will not allow it to join BRICS for now. At the same time, both countries could cooperate with other participants within the association, as well as with Russia in the development of economic projects. Another threat is the active development of the digital environment of BRICS organizations, which hinders the development of a “unipolar cyberspace” in the world.

Despite the opposition of BRICS, it can be said that over 18 years the organization has grown into a strong “player” in the international arena. For one of the founders – India – it is important to understand that this union is a key and most interesting economic and political association, and the main confirmation of this is the new contracts with Moscow in the energy sector, which will be signed in the near future. The summit in Kazan will also give other answers to various questions – one of which is which of the organizations will be able to stop (or has already stopped) the hegemony of the “collective West” in many areas, throughout the globe.
