It’s no news that the coronavirus outbreak has induced panic in millions of people around the globe. Thus, understanding information on the virus itself, its effects, and importantly- learning facts on living in the times of the said “Return of the Plague” becomes an act of undue importance. It provides another side to the fear-evoking stories to take measures in the right way.
The Science Behind Coronavirus:
Coronavirus is an RNA virus and can mutate itself in both humans and animals. This is specifically found in bats, snakes and certain camels. The family of this virus (Coronaviridae) includes other viruses ranging from Ebola and measles to the common cold.
Once in contact with, through the nose or mouth, the coronavirus attaches itself to cell receptors and then gets hold of the ribosomes in our cells.
The ribosomes are vital in making necessary proteins for our body. The coronavirus uses its RNA and modifies the function of ribosomes into making the protein that it wants, thus multiplying.
There is a ray of sunshine in this whole mess- coronavirus won’t fatally affect you if you have a good immune system. But again, toddlers, elderly and other less-immune people are still vulnerable.
