When it was first announced in 2017, the Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor led movie Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar created a lot of hype. Mainly because of director Dibakar Banerjee’s expertise in filmmaking and getting to see Chopra and Kapoor once more in a film by Yash Raj the same studio that launched them.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic in India postponed the movie from its initial release in 2020 and although it did release eventually in March this year, it went by without much of a trace. It’s now available on Amazon Prime Video in India, however, as much hype as the initial news of the film got, the actual release of the movie was a cool affair.
However, while it did not really make much noise for… anything in the movie really, a lot of people who did watch it did like the movie overall. They were also surprised, as was I, to see that Parineeti and Arjun could actually act and not just spread cringe on our screens.
But during the watch of the movie, certain dialogues caught my eye. Mostly because of how realistic they were and probably things we have all heard men and women say in our real life. These comments show the actual ground reality of the misogyny, patriarchy, and Indian masculinity that women of this country have to face each day.
So here are some dialogues that perfectly capture that.
