Our own pan-university conference, Delhi University Model United Nations Conference 2016, being hosted on 7-9 April 2016, is now accepting delegate and reporter applications. DUMUN witnesses nation-wide and international participation from university-going and school students. In its six years of existence DUMUN has hosted over 2000 delegates and 130 Executive Board members, including an international presentation at WEMUNExpo China, making it one of India’s largest conference of its kind.
The theme for this edition is looking around (or beyond the UN), which basically includes giving the participants an insight into the underlying currents of regional diplomacy at alternative forums which finally culminate into the negotiations we see at the UN meetings, and our flagship committee which is an Open-Forum on UN Reform, which is an essential simulation to have at this time considering the hot-debate surrounding it have reached its pinnacle. This theme will make the students appreciate the work of the UN and also more realistically analyse its functioning and relationships with other international forums.
The committees and agendas for this conference are:
1. Open-Forum on UN Reform
Agenda: Reforming the United Nations
2. Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe
