With the number of cases crossing 3 lakh and Delhi having the second-highest number of fatalities, there is no space in hospitals for the patients. The government had started home quarantining people with low symptoms.
Amidst the back-breaking circumstances, Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has flickered hope to the sick and their loved ones.
The committee’s president and general secretary, Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Harmeet Singh Kalka sent a letter to the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal requesting immediate approval to create care centres for people with mild symptoms in Gurudwaras.
What will the care centres provide?
The DSGMC will not only provide space for the diseased but will operate and run them providing all the medical facilities possible.
All the admitted patients will get basic medical care, meals, clean drinking water, oxygen, laboratory services. The centres will also have haematological and biochemistry laboratory services.
The patients admitted will be with symptoms like malaise, sore throat, low-grade fever and other such mild symptoms.
If a patient’s condition gets worse or critical, he will be referred to the COVID-19 hospitals under the Delhi Government

How the Gurudwara committee has been helping throughout?
Besides the recent initiative to provide care centres for patients with Covid-19, Gurudwaras in Delhi provided inn facility to medical staff who couldn’t risk going home to their loved ones after an entire day of exposure to the virus.
They even aided the worst affected migrants during the lockdown when they started “Langar on Wheels” and have been constantly preparing meals for the needy.
Their humanitarian work has also proved to be a beacon of hope during these times when people aren’t even getting appointments due to the high surge in cases.
They have shown some exceptional dedication and commitment to help the public in these harsh times.
