Siya’s Unusual Reaction, Previous Failed Attempt, Ketan’s Lost Passport: Further Details In Pune Fort Murder Case

-

The Pune fort murder case has shaken the country, given the incredibly tragic loss of a young life it led to, brought about by his own fiancée. The case has left people horrified not just because of its brutality, but because of its cold, meticulous calculation.

The 26-year-old real estate executive, who just days prior to his death had been doting on his fiancée, Siya Goyal, with surprises, special outings, flowers and more. However, a pre-wedding celebration at a Pune fort turned tragic when Agarwal slipped and fell into a gorge hundreds of feet below. On paper, this looks like a tragedy for all people, and an accident at that as well.

Things soon changed, though, when the accident was changed to a murder and the police arrested his bride-to-be, Siya Goyal and 22-year-old Chetan Babulal Chaudhary on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy.

What Is The Pune Fort Murder Case?

Ketan Vishal Agarwal was a 26-year-old real estate executive from Gahunje, in the Pune district of Maharashtra. He was the son of Vishal Agarwal, who owned the family real estate business Success Group. Ketan was a director and Chief Marketing Officer at the same firm.

Siya Goyal is a 20-year-old resident of Pune, and the two were matched in an arranged marriage setting by Siya’s relatives. They were due to marry later in the year, and as per reports, the family was in full wedding preparation mode, even reserving a palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan, for Rs. 17 crore as a venue, along with booking private jets for the guests.

On June 18, 2026, Ketan and his fiancée made a trek out to the Lohagad Fort near Pune to celebrate her birthday. It was during this that Ketan fell into a 400-foot deep gorge and died. According to reports, Siya claimed that his foot slipped while he was taking photographs. A rescue team recovered the body after three hours.

While the case initially registered as an accident, the Pune Rural Police felt something was amiss and carried out a deeper investigation, and it was here that they found the first breakthrough.

Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill said, “Our teams examined multiple angles, including financial disputes and personal relationships. During the probe, police allegedly found that Goyal was in a relationship with another man, identified as Chetan Babulal Chaudhary (22), a resident of Kondhwa in Pune.”

Siya was allegedly against her marriage with Ketan and instead wanted to be with Chetan. Considering Ketan to be an obstacle to their relationships, investigators believe that the two then hatched a plan to kill him, and the Lohagad fort trip was part of that plan itself. Chetan reached the fort as well, and together they pushed Ketan off the cliff.

According to an officer, “While investigating the case, we stumbled upon certain circumstances surrounding the incident that raised suspicion and prompted a deeper probe. We checked the CCTV cameras installed at the ticket counter of the fort, where we spotted Ketan and Siya walking together.”

A CCTV had captured a hooded man following the couple. The fact that the man was wearing a thick hoodie at a time when the temperature was 33°C raised warning flags for the investigators.

Furthermore, call records from Siya revealed extensive communication with Chetan. The officer also reportedly said, “During interrogation, Chetan was asked why they did not consider running and instead chose to eliminate Ketan. According to him, Siya was not in favour of calling off the engagement and eloping with Chetan, as she thought doing so would bring disrespect to her family.”

The investigation also revealed that Chetan had left his phone at his shop to avoid getting tracked.

What Did The Father Reveal?

Ketan’s father spoke about how the accused, Siya Goyal, did not show any reaction to the victim’s death, and how that was the first time he felt that something was wrong. He said, “Lekin jab Ketan ki body humko mili aur wo police wale ambulance mein le jaane lag gaye, to sabse pehle mujhe shak aaya kyunki uska koi reaction nahi tha. Jab kisi ladki ke saath uska hone wala pati upar se gir jata hai, uski body milti hai to ladki ka koi na koi bada reaction hota hai. Uska koi reaction nahi tha. Iss reaction ke na hone ki wajah se mujhe sabse pehla shak aaya.

(When Ketan’s body was found and the police were taking it away in the ambulance, my suspicion arose first because she had no reaction at all. When a girl’s soon-to-be husband falls from a height and his body is found, there is always some kind of strong reaction from the girl. She had no reaction whatsoever. It was this absence of reaction that first made me suspicious.)”

He added how, “Humare ko, Siya ki mummy, Pooja Goyal, ka phone aaya ki aapka ladka upar Lohgad kile se gir gaya hai, aur aap pahunchiye. To hum wahan pahunche, to wo shant ek side mein khadi thi. Sirf ek hi baat bol rahi thi ki ‘Ketan theek hai, aa jayega. Ketan theek hai, aa jayega.’ Jab ki itne height se girne ke baad Ketan theek hone ki koi possibility nahi thi. Uske baad jab wo aayi, to wo 10-15 minute bhi yahan nahi thi, koi uska rona-dhona nahi, aisa lag nahi raha tha ki wo sach hai ya wo ro rahi thi. Uske baad, uske saath Renu Mittal aayi thi, unhone sabke saamne usko bohot dhamkaya aur aakhein dikha ke usko zabardasti yahan se leke gayi.

(We received a call from Siya’s mother, Pooja Goyal, saying that your son has fallen from up at Lohagad Fort and you should come. So we reached there, and she was standing calmly to one side. She was only saying one thing — ‘Ketan is fine, he will come back. Ketan is fine, he will come back.’ When in reality, after falling from such a height, there was no possibility of Ketan being fine. After that, when she came, she was not even there for 10 to 15 minutes, there was no crying, no grief — it did not feel like it was genuine or that she was actually crying. After that, the woman who had come with her, Renu Mittal, in front of everyone, threatened her very aggressively, glared at her, and forcibly took her away from there.)”

In another interview with ANI, he said, “They (Siya Goyal and Ketan Agarwal) got engaged in February…They were leaving for Bali on the 6th, four people were travelling to Bali together, but only Ketan’s passport got stolen. Because of that, he couldn’t go and had to return from the airport…Chetan Chaudhary arrived at the Lohagad Fort on a two-wheeler…

The two (Chetan Chaudhary and Siya Goyal) went up together, hit Ketan Vishal Agarwal with an object, and threw him down from the top…The police were helpful and resolved the case very quickly. The local Rural SP, Sandeep Singh Gill, provided exceptional support; he immediately shared the details with us and arrested both individuals.

Chetan Chaudhary was arrested last night, and Siya was arrested this morning. They are now being produced in court…If she didn’t want to get married, she could have simply refused; we would have cancelled the wedding immediately. Why did they decide to take such a drastic step? What kind of mindset do they have? Their mindset is so cruel that someone’s 26-year-old son could be killed…Society needs to take note of such a cruel mindset. Where does this ideology come from, their family, their upbringing?…”

Ketan’s mother, who had welcomed Siya into her home and her life, also said, “My son is no more. Siya and her boyfriend are entirely responsible for it. She betrayed me and lied. There was nothing suspicious; we didn’t have a single doubt. I met her many times, and we went shopping and out for dinner together frequently, yet it never crossed our minds that she could be this kind of person. I demand the death penalty for those involved in the incident.”
