Here’s How Much You Can Pay To Attend A Fake Wedding In Delhi With No Groom Or Bride

-

The great Indian wedding is a spectacle in its own category. Love it or hate it, there is a curiosity with it that pulls people toward it, wanting to be a part of it and experience the many aspects of it. However, an invitation to a fake wedding that has gone viral recently has shed light on a growing interest in people wanting to participate in the festivities without the actual reality that comes with it.

This could be an emerging party trend, if it is not already one, especially given today’s climate, where the young generation is a bit more reticent about getting married.

What Is This Fake Wedding Invite Trend?

Events that allow people to experience certain things without it being an actual thing are everything, and these days, they are getting more and more common. Companies and event organisers are witnessing the growing audience for this area and are trying to capitalise on it.

In the same vein, recently, a wedding invite went viral. However, it wasn’t because it was for some celebrity or was extremely artistic. The reason for it going viral was that it was for a fake wedding, but with all the other parts of an Indian wedding kept in, like baraat, the food, dhol, and music.

The event, hosted by Trippy Tequil, is a ‘Fake Wedding’ where attendees can take part in regular Indian wedding festivities for varying price ranges in Noida.

The invite even encourages attendees to “wear traditional attire and get a complimentary shaadi wali liit.” The tickets, available on BookMyShow, range from Rs 999 for a female cover charge to Rs 1,499 for a stag/couple charge.

The invite clearly caught the attention of many online. With social media users marvelling over the concept, and having heated debates over the ethics of it.

Another user wrote, “Fake weddings is a thing now, people come, pay enjoy wedding like festivities and leave. Long live capitalism.”

It also seems that this might not be limited to just Noida, with user Seendrella (@ishag_talks) commenting, “Yeah, in Nagpur also fake wedding events are happening.” Besides Nagpur, these fake weddings are also witnessing popularity in cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, and Pune.

Content creator Mukul Khurana also posted about such a fake wedding, explaining how another Delhi organiser, Jumma Ki Raat, charged between Rs 500 to Rs 3,000 for entrance.

In this particular fake wedding, the content creator also notes that these fake weddings include mock varmala ceremonies, choreographed sangeet performances, baraat-style entrances, flower throws, and a faux pandit.

Clearly, event organisers and professional planners are seeing the very ready and excited consumer base in this sector and are now coming up with intricate packages that go from simple events like this to having set decor, themed dress code, and more.

According to reports, the concept is meant to take away the “financial and emotional baggage” and personal commitments that a real wedding brings and allow attendees to experience the joy, cultural energy, and festivities of an Indian wedding.

It would allow people to get dressed up and take part in the fun of an Indian wedding, but in a no-strings-attached format.
