The Ambani wedding, of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, has been the biggest entertainment topic for months now. With almost endless functions and events, dignitaries, and names from all across the world making an attendance, the reach of the wedding reached global scales.
The amount of power and influence that the wedding collected in one venue was almost unseen, and people watching the events happen online certainly had their fun, making parodies of it, showing their indifference to the events or just commenting on how it was getting a bit overbearing.
In the midst of this, while many celebrities and influencers attended the wedding, one influencer has come out to say how she rejected an offer of Rs. 3.6 lakhs from the Ambanis asking to cover the wedding and how it would boost the Indian economy.
What Did The Influencer Reveal?
The influencer Kavya Karnatac, is an education content creator most known for her videos on the subject of geography. In a LinkedIn post published a week ago, she wrote “Why I rejected a 3.6 Lakh deal from Ambani?” about how she rejected a PR (public relations) offer by the Ambani company about how the recent Ambani wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant was boosting the Indian economy.
In her post, she wrote about how even though their offered deal was much above her usual rate, she could not accept it due to four major reasons.
Beginning her post she wrote “Recently, I was offered 3.6 lakhs for Ambani’s PR activation. My task? To discuss how Ambani’s wedding would boost the Indian economy. The offer far exceeded my usual rate of around 3 lakhs, and my parents even urged me to accept it. However, I decided to decline.”
She went on to give four reasons for declining the offer them being:
Oversaturation
The first reason she said was about “Oversaturation and Personal Brand: I didn’t want to be part of an overwhelming crowd promoting the same narrative. It’s easy to get lost in the noise.
I believe in maintaining the distinctiveness and value of my content, which thrives on diversity and originality. Aligning with an overly promoted narrative like Ambani’s wedding would dilute my brand’s uniqueness.”

Trust
Her second reason was that she felt it would be going against the trust her audience puts in her. She wrote “Audience Trust: At a time when Jio has increased internet charges, promoting a corporate giant like Ambani felt insincere.
Trust is fragile and built over time through consistent honesty. My audience is discerning; they can differentiate between paid promotions and genuine content. Thus, preserving their trust is crucial.”
Ethical Concerns
Her third reason was about the “Ethical Concerns” she had regarding the deal writing “In a country where marriages are often canceled due to caste, class, gender, and religion, promoting a high-profile wedding that conforms to these norms didn’t align with my values.
As an educator and creator, promoting such an event could be misleading. It’s more suited for fashion or lifestyle influencers. While I’ve previously worked with Ambani, promoting Vantara, claiming that a wedding could positively impact the Indian economy might not be factually accurate.”
Integrity
Her fourth and last reason was about the “Personal Integrity” she had to think of regarding the offer stating “A 3.6 lakh deal is tempting. However, the long-term benefits of maintaining my integrity far outweigh the short-term financial gain. Integrity builds a loyal following, which is invaluable.”
She concluded her post by writing “Saying no to such deals can be challenging. Fortunately, I’m at a stage in my career where I can make these choices. Not everyone can or should say no—it’s a personal decision based on individual circumstances.”
Many people applauded Kavya on her decisions with one user Shaaista writing “I kept hearing stories of how people were getting large sums of money to write positive posts about the Ambani wedding and how it’s brought Indian culture to the international platform bla bla. Little did I know ….
Hats off to you Kavya Karnatac for staying true to your values in the light of such temptation. Ambani money has practically bought every person one has ever recognised; kudos to you for letting them know – not everyone is for sale. Bravo!!!”
Another wrote “Well done! Kavya Karnatac. Not everyone has a courage to choose integrity, loyalty towards your audience and continue to promote only genuine content over money.”
A few raised questions on how ethical it is to post about all this so publically and that by making this post, she is still indirectly promoting them.
User Xavier Rigano commented “However you’re doing the same branding indirectly by this kinda post.. since it’s your personal decision of that refusal, keep it personal” while Bismoy wrote, “Unsure if revealing such thing is ethical too; rejection of certain amount can be a personal choice but mentioning some other organisation’s name without consent, in order to publicly shame in a subtle way doesn’t look good!”
User Saibal Mukherjee also pointed out “If you don’t like, you can always reject it but posting it in public basis on your feelings and putting down a company, who is a provider for 300k people doesn’t reflect high on your professional standards!!”
