2015 Acura TLX

Acura TLX

Acura has launched the TLX which will replace the ageing TSX and TL sedans. At first glance the TLX sedan looks much better. The design is futuristic and the car is packed with technology and equipment. Powering the TLX will be a 2.4l petrol engine mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox which comes with Acura’s PAWS all-wheel steering function which improves the handling. But if you are an enthusiast then I suggest you opt for the more powerful 3.5-liter V6 mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. This also comes with a Super-handling All wheel drive (SH-AWD) feature which further enhances the driving experience.

Ford Focus

Ford is known to make big launches at the NYIAS, and this year was no different. Ford revealed their Focus sedan which is a revised version of the concept which debuted back in 2012. This 2015 Focus sedan looks stunning in that eye-catching blue paint job. It includes updates such as new front bumper & grille, revised taillights while the interiors are identical except for the new steering wheel and new climate controls. The most important thing though is under the hood. Powering the Focus sedan is Ford’s recently launched 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine which is expected to develop around 125bhp. Those figures are really good for a tiny 3-pot turbocharged engine. It will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Sounds interesting right? Ford, please launch this in India!

2015 Hyundai sonata

Hyundai revealed the new generation Sonata sedan at the NYIAS. I am not a big fan on Hyundai’s aggressive fluidic design so I quite liked what they have done to the new Sonata. It does have a few elements of the fluidic design but it isn’t as aggressive as the Elantra. It looks way more mature. Powering it is the same set of engines- the 2.4-liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine though the power ratings have been decreased in order to get better fuel efficiency. Hyundai will launch it in India by mid-2015.

Dodge Charger

The public already knew that a new Challenger was going to be revealed but the Charger launch came as a bit of a surprise since there was no mention about it before. And the update is quite a big one since almost every panel except the rear doors, roof, and windshield are new. The new charger is stunning to look at with LED headlamps, low profile wheels, dual exhaust tips, 3-piece spoiler. The interior changes include a 7-inch TFT instrument-cluster display, leather upholstery and aluminum trim. The Charger comes with two engine options-a 3.6-liter V-6 producing 292 hp or a 5.7-liter V-8 which produces 370 hp.

2015 Toyota Camry

Toyota Camry is the highest selling sedan in the United States so this reveal created a lot of buzz at the show. This car is slightly edgier than the previous generation vehicle. Almost all the body panels have been replaced though mechanically it remains unchanged. Unfortunately I feel that it looks a lot like it’s younger sibling, the Corolla which is a segment below. Expect it to reach Indian showrooms by early next year.
