9/11 World Trade Center Attacks: The Day That Shook America To Its Core

On 9/11 in 2001, at around 8:45 am in the morning, American Airlines Boeing 767 with about 20,000 gallons of fuel crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in NYC, USA.

The impact from the crash left a hole a hole near the 80th floor killing and injuring hundreds! Soon the evacuation began while the television broadcasted live images considering it was an accident.

Soon, out of nowhere another Boeing 767 appeared and crashed into the South Tower with a huge explosion. Burning debris and smoke covered the sky. This was just 18 minutes after the first crash.

Yes, United States Of America was under attack!

News flew that the attackers were Islamic terrorists from Arab nations. Reportedly, they were funded by Osama’s terrorist group Al-Qaeda. They were retaliating to US’s presence in Middle East and interference Persian Gulf War and it’s support to Israel.

What also came to light was that these terrorists lived in America from months taking flight lessons while some others came just before 9/11 to put this horrific operation in action.

Box-cutters and knives were smuggled through security by 19 terrorists at 3 East Coast airports. 4 Flights bound to California were boarded by them. They were chosen as they had good amount of fuel.

As soon as planes took off, the terrorists commandeered them. And this is how a horrific operation saw its beginning.

At 9:45 am, another plane slammed into the Pentagon Military Headquarters. Millions were watching this horror unfold. Both military personnels and civilians were killed due to the impact by the crash.

15 minutes pot the crash in Military HQ, panick sent chills around when South Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed into dust and smoke.

At about 10:30 am, the other tower fell flat. Around 3,000 people saw death come their way in WTC vicinity, including about 343 firefighters and paramedics.

Out of thousands only 6 people survived in the World Trade Center towers when they collapsed. Thousands were treated for injuries and burns.

Meanwhile, the fourth California bound plane got hijacked. But since the passengers learnt about the events unfolding, they fought hijackers.

Sadly though, the plane flipped and crashed in Pennsylvania at about 10:10 a.m. All the passengers aboard died. The intended target of the last plane was never revealed.

At 7 pm, President George W. Bush  came back to white House after a horror of a day and delivered a speech at 9 pm.

He said how terrorists can break and collapse buildings but not the foundation of USA and how USA is going tot make strict measures. He said, “We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.”

As horrified USA cried on the night of 9/11 , Bush promised to serve the people behind the horror.

Following the attack, “Operation Enduring Freedom” began on October 7. Within 2 months of its being, US removed Taliban from operational power.

But it is only on May 2, 2011 that people of Unites Sates Of America had happy tears in eyes. Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind behind 9/11 was finally killed in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
