Donald Trump in a historic moment was arrested on Tuesday, 4th April 2023 due to his alleged involvement in the “hush money” scheme with the adult film star Stormy Daniels.

He was indicted on 34 counts, all of which he ended up pleading not guilty to. The former US president was accused of having paid off around $130,000 to Daniels so that she would remain silent about his alleged affair with him.

Of course, this resulted in a lot of media hype with media stationed for hours outside Trump’s residence in New York as well as the courts, waiting for him to make an appearance. Celebrities and known personalities also had varying views on Trump’s arrest.

Supporting The Arrest

George Takei

George Takei an actor from the original Star Trek television series posted a video with a simple caption of “Aww, poor baby” and a laughing face emoji.

Mark Hamill

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill also tweeted out against Trump especially his son posting an image of the judge’s daughter writing “‘When you have the facts on your side, argue the facts. When you have the law on your side, argue the law.’ When you have neither, target the judge’s family.”

Jimmy Kimmel

Late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel posted a meme with a photo of Trump’s son-in-law and former aide, Jared Kuschner with the caption “When all your dads end up in jail.”

Ellen Barkin

Ellen Barkin, a Golden Globe-nominated actress posted a tweet saying “Trump under arrest at New York criminal court. I just wanted to write it… UNDER ARREST IN NYC.”

Against The Arrest

Not everyone was celebrating Trump’s arrest though and there were some celebrities and public personalities who believed it to be wrong.

Caitlyn Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner, the former Olympian-turned-reality TV star posted a tweet in support of Trump writing “The most resilient man in America. He never loses sight of what matters or what’s at stake—The American People.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was majorly trolled for her comments after Trump’s arrest wherein she compared him with Nelson Mandela and Jesus Christ.

Speaking with Right Side Broadcasting Network’s Brian Glenn while going to a pro-Trump rally in Manhattan, New York, Green said that “Trump is joining some of the most incredible people in history being arrested today.”

She went on to say that “Nelson Mandela was arrested, served time in prison. Jesus was arrested and murdered by the Roman government.

There have been many people throughout history that have been arrested and persecuted by radical, corrupt governments, and it’s beginning today in New York City, and I just can’t believe it’s happening, but I’ll always support him. He’s done nothing wrong.”

Terrence K. Williams

Terrence K. Williams, a comedian also posted on his Twitter in support of Trump and condemning the arrest.

Trump didn’t spend long arrested though, he quickly was able to get out and upon returning to Florida gave a 25-minute speech in Mar-a-Lago. In the speech, he called this arrest a “witch hunt” led by the Democrats.
