Startup Fortune, January 8, 2021: While traveling the world and working remotely as a digital nomad was a popular trend before the global pandemic, the lockdowns happening around the world means the ability for influencers to travel has been drastically impacted. Despite this there are a handful of leaders in the online space who have exemplified resilience and gone on to create thriving businesses.
According to MBO Partners, 7.3 million Americans identify as digital nomads which is an increase of 2.3 million from the previous year – proving that this movement is certainly not only a trend. It is a way of life that many in the world will soon experience as well, which gives reason as to why it is paramount to take note from those who have world-class experience and expertise.
5 digital nomad leaders who are advocates of this lifestyle are showing the world what is possible by sharing their top tips on how to thrive as remote business owners during 2021.
List of 5 Top Digital Nomad Leaders
- Olumide Gbenro
Olumide Gbenro is a popular remote work influencer and publicist based in Bali Indonesia who has curated dozens of virtual and in-person summits and community events that have attracted thousands of digital nomads in a short span. He is founder of Globoversity, a premium education platform for digital nomads.
Olumide’s Best Advice On How To Thrive
My advice is to network online with as many people as you can. Take this time to discover your truest heart desires, what makes you happy and then find online communities and mutual friendships that support that. Whether it’s a WhatsApp group or Facebook group or maybe even attending virtual networking events, it’s time to get out of your comfort zone and meet new and interesting people online. When you’re able to do effectively, and have a better balance between work and play, you will find you may spend more quality time on your business. I really believe this will help you grow as an entrepreneur or human being.
- Rochelle Fox
Rochelle Fox is the Co-founder of online meditation school @mindspot and international retreats company @mindspo.retreats.
She is a multi-passionate entrepreneur and digital nomad of 5+ years who has been teaching 1000’s of people meditation while passing on the tools we all need to master our minds.
Rochelle’s Biggest Advice On How To Thrive This Year
My biggest advice for those wanting to thrive this year is to put your mental health first and be aware of your digital wellness. If recent times have taught us anything, it’s that we can’t control what happens in the world around us, but we can always control how we react to it. Meditation is the best way to calm inner chaos and control your reactions, so that you can experience both inner and outer peace. There has never been a more critical time in history to manage our minds than right now. We’re living through a mental health pandemic, within an existing pandemic, and we’re spending more time online, processing more information than ever before. A daily meditation practice coupled with conscious social media consumption is a game-changer for anyone wanting to thrive in 2021.
- Kelly Wing
Kelly Wing (Instagram: @KellyWing_) is the founder of Ohwabisabi, a media platform where conscious creators and industry thought-leaders share their unique message, teachings, and stories with a growing fan-base of thousands of readers from around the globe each month. She is also a contributor for Entrepreneur magazine and she amplifies the voices of the new generation of thought-leaders, uplifting them into their power for the world to see and recognise.
Since launching her media company 4 months ago, Kelly has helped over 40 leaders gain more reach and exposure to their message, leveraging platforms with over 50 million+ combined monthly visits per month. As a result, in her 4 month of operation she created her first 5-figure profit month and continues to soar to new heights daily.
Kelly’s Biggest Advice On How To Thrive
“Seek opportunity over crisis. This past year has highlighted so many solutions that the world needs right now. We can all play our role in contributing to a better and more humane world (and more humane internet), whether it be big or small. There are situations in our control and situations out of our control and the more we focus on the change we can bring, the more change we will see.”
- Michael Swigunski
Mike Swigunski (Instagram: @SwigMeetsWorld) is a #1 bestselling author of Global Career: How to Work Anywhere and Travel Forever. He is a remote job authority, travel expert, and entrepreneur that has helped build multiple six, seven, and even eight-figure online businesses while traveling around the world to more than 85+ countries!
Over the past decade, Mike has been working internationally and remotely with experiences that have provided him a unique 360-degree view of the remote work environment. Whether it’s working as a remote employee, helping build one of America’s fastest-growing remote companies, or running his own remote company. Mike knows what works and what does not in the new age of remote working!
Michael’s Biggest Advice On How To Thrive This Year
My biggest piece of advice for people to thrive into the new year is to set ambitious, but achievable goals with the S.M.A.R.T system. S.M.A.R.T is a mnemonic acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Assignable, Realistic, and Time-related.
The majority of people fail their goals since they only meet one of the five important aspects of goal setting. My other piece of advice is to do a ‘three in three’ and this means to limit the number of goals to three and also make sure they are obtainable within three months. These goals should all be working towards a larger and more ambitious yearly goal. There is a reason pretty much every company in the world is structured around quarterly goals and with the right structure, you will thrive in 2021!
- Riley Bennett
Riley Bennett (Instagram: @LivinThatLifeTV) is a digital nomad based in South East Asia since 2015. While running his Amazon FBA business and Amazon marketing agency, he shares travel vlogs on his Youtube channel called Livin That Life.
Riley’s Biggest Advice On How To Thrive
My advice for 2021: escape lockdowns and travel somewhere! There are many countries still open to tourism. Break the mold and have some adventure. It will inspire you to crush this year. While many businesses are slowing down or pausing, there are many opportunities opening up! Surround yourself with like-minded people on the same mission – if not in person, at virtual conferences and mastermind groups – find ’em! Tons of digital entrepreneurs are thriving during these times – you have no excuse not to! The internet is not slowing down – it’s speeding up!
