What would happen if you heard of a company giving a ‘Tinder leave’ to its employees? This is exactly what a company based in Thailand is doing to boost the overall productivity of its employees.
These days, more and more companies, especially those with a younger working demographic are bringing in unique types of initiatives and programs to keep their employees happy.
While a lot of such programs are geared toward mental health and ensuring that the employees don’t get burnt out, or depressed, thus leading to a drop in their productivity, there are also these unique types of programs.
What Is This Company Doing?
In a LinkedIn post posted almost a month ago, Whiteline Group wrote “We give 6 months of free Tinder platinum & Tinder gold to our employees. Our employees can use Tinder leave !!!! for dating with someone.”
Whiteline Group is an advertising agency based in Bangkok, Thailand.
As per a report by The Straits Times, the employee benefits were announced in August and will last until December of this year.
In this scheme, employees will be given paid time off to go on dates, however, it has not mentioned exactly how many days are allocated for this leave and only those who have passed their probation are eligible for these leaves.

This particular employee benefit, however, is only for those who join the company between 9 July to 31 December 2024. The company has also claimed that it will cover the cost of six months of Tinder Gold and Tinder Platinum subscriptions for all its employees.
These high-tiered memberships allow people to see who has liked their profile, match with people globally and also send a note with their Super Like. The reason why this unconventional program came about was to “boost well-being among employees” as per 9News Australia.
According to media reports, the company believes that an employee being in love will result in an increase in happiness and thus an increase in their overall productivity.
A New York Post report claims that the idea for the initiative came after an employee from management overheard another worker talk about how she was “too busy” to date. However, employees must give at least a week’s notice to avail themselves of this Tinder leave.
As per The Straits Times though, this is not the only company to give such leaves with Gushcloud International, an influencer marketing agency, also doing something similar.
The company is offering 1 day of Tinder leave along with paid Tinder Platinum subscriptions for all 300 of its employees spread across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand.
Althea Lim, Gushcloud’s co-founder and group CEO said, “We believe that fostering a healthy social life is essential, and this is a great way to take care of our employees in their relationship goals, whether that’s meeting new people, making new friends, or finding a life partner.”
A Chinese supermarket chain Fat Dong Lai also started something called a ‘sad leave’ for its employees where they can take 10 ‘sad leaves’ in a year.
The concept is for employees who are feeling sad and down and do not feel motivated to work. This is in addition to the 40 days of annual leave, and a 7-hour/day and 5 days work week.
