Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise has given us a glimpse into the untold and open-secret of the Bollywood industry. Nepotism is considered a taboo of the Bollywood industry and it has swallowed the career of many talented and proficient actors.
Nepotism is believed to be one of the reasons that made Sushant take the biggest step of losing his life. After his demise, many celebrities including Raveena Tandon, Vivek Oberoi, and Kangana Ranaut came forward to share similar experiences and talked about the vicious circle of Bollywood.
They reached out to people on social media and got massive support from the public. But, in a recent scenario, one much-known Bollywood celeb came out claiming that he has also been a victim of nepotism.
And that made some people go nuts because he is none other than Mr. Saif Ali Khan, the son of cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and famous veteran actress Sharmila Tagore.
A Star-kid Also Faces Nepotism, Really?
Saif Ali Khan has spoken lately and made several statements on nepotism and Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
In a recent interview with the New Indian Express, he said, “Nepotism in its purest form is something that even I have been a victim of. But nobody’s interested in that. Businesses work like that. I am not going to take names but somebody’s dad has rung up and said don’t take him, in the movie. All that happens and it has happened to me. There is inequality in India that needs to be explored. Nepotism, favoritism, and camps are different subjects“.
He also mentioned that he is really happy for many actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Pankaj Tripathi who have come to the foreground from the institutes and have become renowned actors and household names.
Back in 2017, he got into a controversy regarding nepotism when he made a statement like “nepotism rocks” in an award show. Then he had to write an open letter to explain his words.
He said he didn’t intend to hurt somebody’s sentiments and it was just a joke between him, Varun Dhawan, and Karan Johar.
A few days later, he further clarified his statements to PTI (Press Trust of India) saying that nepotism is a horrible thing and he is totally against it.
He also admitted that he has benefitted from it and how star-kids have more opportunities than people who are not connected to Bollywood background.
Being a star kid already and claiming that he had also experienced nepotism is quite hard for the public to digest. People disregarded his claim by saying that it is ridiculous and the fact that he is disadvantaged by nepotism instead of being benefitted is perplexing for the audience.
