This coronavirus will give all of us OCD for sure! I think this difficult phase will pass but the lessons of cleanliness we are learning due to the outbreak of COVID-19 are undoubtedly remarkable.
During this phase, the most important safety hack is to clean hands with soap and sanitizer. We all know, COVID-19 spreads mostly due to human transmission.
Therefore, we humans are keeping no stone unturned to keep ourselves clean. But have you thought about the regular amenities? Amenities like mobiles, laptops, debit cards and money which we use on a regular basis too need sanitization as it is said that coronavirus can persist even if it is stuck to non-living objects and metals.
A recent study published in the Journal of Hospital Infection suggested that coronavirus can persist on surfaces for up to nine days. This is not all, earlier one study claimed that our phones carry 10 times more bacteria than a toilet seat.
So, don’t you think, it is time to clean these things too? In this blog, we will be talking about some hacks which can help you to keep your mobile, currency notes, laptop, etc free from COVID-19.

Methods to clean mobiles and laptops
Researchers have suggested germs can be deactivated by surface disinfection procedures if we use 62–71% ethanol, 0.5% hydrogen peroxide or 0.1% sodium hypochlorite. These chemicals have the potential to destroy the virus in one minute.
But concerns have been raised in terms of using the harsh chemicals as they might damage different features of phones and laptops such as fingerprint-resistant coating, screen etc.
Apple has suggested keeping the phone switched off while cleaning it. They have asked their users to clean the phone with a soft and lint-free cloth with warm, soapy water. The company advises against using cleaning products or compressed air. Samsung too advised the same to keep the devices virus-free.
Wall Street Journal did a thorough report on cleaning of mobiles, do check it out if you’re concerned about virus and infection on your phone devices: Should You Clean Your Phone to Combat Coronavirus? Definitely… Maybe.
How to clean currency notes and cards
Recently Confederation of All India Traders wrote a letter to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman which talked about the Indian currency which is capable of spreading coronavirus. Despite having no scientific proof with them, the World Health Organisation has advised maintaining proper hygiene while handling notes.
Due to the rapid change of hands, notes become the carrier of different viruses and this is the reason, people are asked to reduce the usage of notes. But as money is essential for the human world for survival, it is better if we can clean the notes with sanitizer sprays and cards can easily be cleaned with a soft cloth and warm, soapy water.
