Matt West – Founder of Boom and Mindfulness Expert

When Matt West lost all sight of himself, he knew that he could no longer continue to live working at the same hopeless 9-5 corporate job and that he had to make a significant change in his life. After spending years finding what he required to be happy, he eventually found it and made it his mission to share it so that no one else would experience what he did.  He was born in Northridge, CA, on July 26th, 1983, and raised in Palmdale, CA. In high school, he was a typical teenager who went to school and did extracurriculars in his free time; his sport of choice was soccer. Diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter, his soccer career came to a halt, and he had to stop. Despite not being able to play anymore, he discovered his true passion for psychology and began pursuing that.

His 11th-grade psychology teacher inspired him to tap into what motivated him and gave him his driving force; then, soon enough, he succeeded in every aspect of his life. This motivation is what earned him two masters in psychology from Pepperdine University and Cal State University. By age 30, he lived comfortably with a 6 figure salary and a home in Marina Del Rey, CA, with his wife and daughter. It wasn’t until age 31 when he failed to start a business that he lost motivation and got sucked into his corporate 9-5 job. A series of significant events in 2018 led him to rethink his life and led him to create a new routine for his life. He attempted to create a morning and night routine to increase the amount of sleep and exercise he got to regain that motivation that he desperately needed. This routine only went on for two months before he concluded that his burn out only became worse. He gave up on that routine and went back to the same living habits that he had before.

He tried to stop coasting through life and regain control over his life, but he quickly lost motivation once he went on social media and got distracted. He stopped trying to change his physical traits and began altering his emotional habits. He took up mindfulness journaling to get back his motivation. As time went on, he noticed a significant change in his demeanor and how he handled his life’s hurdles. He started to rediscover who he was and wanted to share it with people in the same position. He shared the crucial emotional habits that he had to alter to achieve enlightenment through his tech startup, Boom, and his podcast, The Brain Boom Podcast. Through boom, people now had a platform to capture and share authentic, joyful moments to stay motivated through every obstacle they encounter. His personal Instagram shares his mindful living journey, and Boom’s Instagram has insights and challenges to start mindfully living today. Both of these platforms are in their developing stage but are already helping millennials worldwide achieve less stress and live more mindfully.
