Do you wanna build a snowman? Come on, let’s go and play! I never see you anymore, come out the door, it’s like you’ve gone away,” is what I used to say while calling on my sister when her nose was buried in the books, albeit in a rather unflattering voice.

The way Anna tries to persuade Elsa to spend some time with her is similar to how we had to entice each other for some sister time with our busy schedules.

Sisterhood

Their beautiful relationship is what made the first Frozen movie a huge success. Now the sisters are back to protect Arendale and I stupidly hope that the movie runs for weeks in the theatres so that I can watch it with my sister when she comes home from college during her winter break.

This strong bond of ‘Behenein‘ extends to our dear girlfriends too, who are our spiritual sisters. Us girls often cajole our friends to participate in our mischiefs, grief, and happiness with the salutation of “Arre Behen, Asa Kar De Na”.

But we don’t see much of “Behenchara” even though there are plenty of “Bhaichara” moments on the silver screen. So, I always get giddy when I see sisters supporting each other onscreen.

Disney Moving Beyond Prince Charming

With the first movie, Disney changed how we usually perceive acts of true love, instead of a kiss from the love interest, it’s Anna’s selfless act of protecting her sister that constituted the feat of true love which unfroze her heart.

Here are the moments in the trailer that warmed our hearts with its strong message of sisterhood:

I wish we had more movies like this when I was growing up. But it doesn’t matter because filmmakers are now realising our needs and we’ll see more movies like this in the coming years.

So, are you excited for Anna and Elsa’s new adventure?

It’s so comforting seeing girls back girls!
