If the title wasn’t suggestive enough, yes, I have met Bollywood stars during ED Times’ blog collaborations with movies like Raazi, Tumhari Sulu, Kaalakandi, Bareilly Ki Barfi and the most recent one: Why Cheat India.
More specifically, I had the opportunity to meet and interview Vidya Balan & Manav Kaul during the promotions of Tumhari Sulu and Emraan Hashmi & Shreya Dhanwanthary during Why Cheat India promotions!
Before these interviews happened I had a very different perception of the film industry altogether. I thought of the industry as a glam world full of rich-spoilt snobs who weren’t nice to people outside the film fraternity.
These interviews acted as an eye-opener for me and made me realise a lot of things and cleared many misconceptions for me. Here are a few things I learnt:
1. Movie stars and celebrities are normal people like us
They don’t own Unicorns as pets or eat different kinds of food in comparison to us. Sure, it can be a lot fancier than us but still plain-old-regular food!
What I mean to say is, there is no reason for us to have wrong perceptions of people from the film industry. If THE VIDYA BALAN high fives you and THE MANAV KAUL shares “Dilli jokes” with you, you know they are normal people like you and me.

2. Not all Bollywood stars throw unnecessary tantrums
I can’t even begin to narrate how warm both Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi were during their interviews. They reached the venue and without wasting any time asked us to start with the interview.
The entire 20-25 minutes clipping was recorded in one go and not even once did they complain about it let alone throw a tantrum. Once the interview ended, I remember how Vidya Balan candidly joked around and took pictures with us!
3. Not all celebs are funny/entertaining “just for the camera”
During our interview session with Emraan Hashmi and Shreya Dhanwanthary for Why Cheat India, I remember Shreya came to the set a little early than Emraan. She chilled with us and joked about anything and everything as candidly as she did in the interview.
So, no, not all celebs fake interviews or do everything they do just for the camera.
4. Not all actors are outspoken and love attention
Just like you, me and the people around us have different personalities and traits, so do all actors and everyone else in the industry.
Vidya Balan is talkative and enjoys taking “chilling breaks” while Emraan Hashmi is very reserved and likes getting things done in one go.
Similarly, Manav Kaul and Shreya had completely different personalities. The B-town is a mixed bag just like any other industry.
All in all, my experience of being a part of the team that took these interviews was phenomenal. I got to interact with actors of such repute and got an insight into the industry and the craft (and of course, earned INSANE BRAGGING RIGHTS!)
