In the final installment of Indian Streets, we highlight some of the best eateries of the country.
1. Chandni Chowk, Delhi
Chandni Chowk is one of the oldest and busiest markets in Old Delhi. Housing various eateries like Karims, Parathe Wali Gali, Natraj, Kuremal, Kake Di Hatti and several others, this crowded market is a foodie’s delight.
2. Loknath, Alllahabad
In this sleepy town of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, LokNath is famed to have the best vegetarian food street in the world by BBC. With delicacies like Masala Samosa, Sev Paneer, Lachhe-Lassi etc. LokNath is also the city’s oldest market having a number of libraries.
3. Girgaum Chowpatty, Mumbai
Commonly called Chowpatty it is the landmark of the city and a symbol of Mumbai’s night life. Street food stalls adorn the chowpatty at all hours. They include the local dishes like Bhel Puri, Vada Pao, roasted peanuts and spicy raw mango.
4. Eat Street, Necklace Road, Hyderabad
Situated on the coast of Waterfront, this new establishment offers multiple cuisines; from seafood to Thai to Chinese to Indian. This street for a change caters expensive food in the name of street food.
5. Thindi Beedi, Bangalore
Hands down, Bangalore’s favorite food street, Thindi Beedi’s menu include dosas, idlis, kolbade, akki roti and other local food dishes. Thindi Beedi meaning Khao Gali has for years been the most popular food spot for the city dwellers.
6. Chaat Bazaar, Indore
Not confined to just a street, the famous ‘Indian Chaat’ can be found almost everywhere in Indore the unofficial food capital of Central India. Known for the diverse dishes offered in the region having all but one thing in common-spice.
These are not just roads or mere streets. These roads have stood the test of time and have emerged with their own distinct identity. Be it food, clothes or history our country has specialized streets for everything we desire!
