Even when people do good for the community, with fame comes more expectations and leads to toxicity. India has had toxicity spewing for superstars throughout and this pandemic is also no different.
The Contributions
Apart from the tweet on the 5th of May, that called forth help throughout, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna informed their fans last week that they have arranged for 100 oxygen concentrators and shared a screenshot of her tweet on Instagram.
Twinkle wrote “I think for the last few weeks with members of my own family ill, I have been in a bit of a hole. But I couldn’t stay there for long. I implore all of you in your own way to do whatever you can so we can look back at this bleak moment and at least say it took the worst but it brought out the best in all of us.”
The Crux Of The Matter
Actor-author Twinkle Khanna and husband Akshay Kumar, have been contributing towards the COVID-19 relief work and have also encouraged people to contribute.
Recently, she and Akshay faced criticism on social media for not doing enough for those suffering from the virus and asking others to help when they themselves are capable of doing a lot more.

A retired IAS officer, Surya Pratap Singh retaliated to Twinkle’s tweet where she asked people to come forward and donate for oxygen concentrators. The Twitter user wrote, “Twinkle, your husband Akshay Kumar is among the biggest artists of the country. So, instead of asking for donations, it would be better if you guys can show some kindness and donate with an open heart. This is not the time to ask for help, but it is the time to help.”
Looking Back And Looking Forward
Akshay Kumar tested positive for COVID-19 in the first week of April. The actor was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai for treatment. The news was announced by himself on social media. He returned home in a week, which was shared by Twinkle Khanna.
Akshay Kumar’s future releases include Sooryavanshi, Bell Bottom, Ram Setu, Bachchan Pandey, Atrangi Re, and Prithviraj. Sooryavanshi has had its release date deferred twice with the others having no date of release yet.
