Twitter has not seen a day’s rest ever since Elon Musk got his hands on it. From firing almost 50% of the workforce, deactivating access cards of employees, closing offices, getting rid of various sub-features within the app and more, it has been one rollercoaster after another.
Now, in recent news Musk and Twitter in its stead are at odds with Apple, the tech company. As per tweets made by Musk, Apple has stopped most of its advertising on the microblogging platform and furthermore is also threatening to remove the app from its app store.
Why Are Apple And Twitter At Odds?
On 28th November, Elon Musk tweeted that “Apple has mostly stopped advertising on Twitter. Do they hate free speech in America?” and then in another tweet made the next day he added that “Apple has also threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store, but won’t tell us why”.
This apparently seems to be stemming from how advertisers have been leaving Twitter due to the erratic behaviour of Musk and the platform being seen as unstable currently.
However, it is not yet confirmed whether Apple has really done any of this, either taking off Twitter advertising or threatening to remove it from the Apple app store. Neither Tim Cook, CEO of Apple or any representative from the company has made any official announcement or statement till yet.

In the past few weeks brands like General Motors, Pfizer, Volkswagen Group, Ford, Jeep, Nintendo, Eli Lilly and more have all stopped advertisements on Twitter.
As per a Hindustan Times report “Top advertising agencies and media buyers globally have warned clients to pause advertising on Twitter, at least for now.”
Roth, the former Global Head of Trust & Safety at Twitter has commented on how bad the loss of Apple or Google could be to Twitter and its revenue which is already struggling. In a New York Time article, he said “Failure to adhere to Apple’s and Google’s guidelines would be catastrophic, risking Twitter’s expulsion from their app stores and making it more difficult for billions of potential users to get Twitter’s services.”
