It has been 20 years since Ron Dixon has stepped on the field for Super Bowl XXXV, where he made his infamous 97-yard kickoff return that resulted in a touchdown for the New York Giants. Ironically, he made his only Super Bowl debut in the same stadium that we watched Tom Brady win his 10th – Raymond James Stadium.
Since retiring from the game, Dixon has remained active in the sports world. Aside from co-hosting the weekly iHeartRadio Meriweather Dixon Show, he is also bringing a new television show, Executive Produced by Eric Leopardi and Brand Brain Media, to NBC Sports this Fall. The show, 2 THE MAXX, is a six-episode long “high stakes, high reward” adventure for Dixon and a new guest athlete on each episode.
Dixon, and his guest, will face adrenaline-packed adventures taking place in the United States, with more adventures planned in Spain, Nepal, Zambia, Canada, Chile in season 2. During the show, they could face any number of adventures. These heart-pounding excursions include tandem halo jumping, bungee jumping into a live volcano, wing walking, diving with sharks, and so much more.
The first run is scheduled to air on NBC Sports this fall, reaching nearly 80 Million households across the US. Season 1 will offer a second run on PlayersTV. Elite athletes own this sports lifestyle and culture entertainment network that currently reaches 75M+ household viewers, in addition to the 900M+ mobile users. PlayersTV is currently distributed through Samsung TV Plus, Samsung Mobile, Sling TV, Reach TV, and the Xumo Network.
About Ron Dixon and 2 THE MAXX
Since leaving his professional football career due to his PCL injury, he has remained busy. In addition to the weekly radio show, Dixon is also the sitting President of the Pro Football International Board of the World Sports Alumni Association.
In his new unscripted 30-minute show, Dixon will get to rekindle the adrenaline rush he misses while seeing new sites and experiencing new cultures. As a part of the show’s premise, the guest athlete will have no idea what adventure is in store for them until it happens.
While there has not been a list of the guest athletes released at this time, Dixon and Leopardi promise a show that offers a star-studded cast and amazing travel. All of this paired with personal stories of successes and sacrifices, 2 The Maxx is sure to be a must watch on the NBC Sports Fall lineup.
