PM Modi who’s known for the connection he builds with the common man came up with his ‘Mann Ki Baat- Round 3’. As promised, this time he talked about the menace of drugs.

Here are the highlights of his personality as well as his ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

A Father Figure: Every time Modi speaks, he woos the audience; it almost makes you feel as if an elder pained by your actions is giving you an advice. This connect is definitely one of the major reasons people revere him and wait for him to speak.

However, the question which comes to everyone’s mind is that why is the Prime Minister of the largest democracy in the world, speaking on the radio? Well why should he not! He exclaimed in his speech that he wanted to share the grief of the families whose children get caught up in the trap of drugs.

The Social Butterfly: Kudos to Mr. PM for reaching out to all the youngsters through social media! He not only described the drug problem as 3D (Darkness, Destruction, and Devastation) but also came up with #DrugFreeIndia for spreading awareness about drugs.

A helpline will also be established for the same, as parents have trouble discussing such issues.

A Psychologist: Just as he said, it is important to chop off the problem i.e. drugs rather than distancing the child. Cold behavior often does more harm than good. Parents must have fruitful discussions about notions of life, wrong/right, etc with their children. Labeling the child as ‘bad’ won’t serve any purpose.

He mentioned, “Our ancestors said that children must be treated with love till the age of 5, disciplined till the age of 10 and finally treated as a friend from 16 years onwards.”

He also proposed celebrating the International Yoga Day for which 177 countries became the co- sponsors, much more than the International Toilet Day and the International Non- Violence Day.

Yoga, which has been practiced in India since times immemorial can bring the required discipline in our lives, he said.

Source of motivation: Meeting the blind cricket team, he realized that neither does their handicap deter them from their goal nor does it reduce their courage and determination. We must all take them as an example, for having a set goal in life will keep you away from these evils automatically.

As a matter of fact, the money raised from these drugs sponsor an attack on a Jawan fighting on our borders. Why promote drug mafias? Why be a reason to someone’s death? are the crucial questions the first citizen raised.

Much said and done, he lightened the mood by urging people to visit the North- east for its serenity and its lovely people.

Ending his 20- minute talk, he invited fellow Indians to send in their letters to him about this rapidly escalating monster of drugs and eradicating it completely from the country. He bid adieu by promising to meet again in January 2015.

His talk was also aired in the regional languages on Akaashvani.

The tech- savvy PM took these talk sessions a long way through his ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyan’ and actions against ‘black money’. Let us hope that this initiative of his also shows positive results.

He raised issues which were never raised; issues of day-to day importance. There is something peculiarly fantastic about NaMo’s persona which has made him a widely acceptable leader.
