What happens when a colleague calls you on a free day? You pick up the call. You have to entertain them, despite your unwillingness to do so.
A work call can spoil anyone’s holiday mood. This was understood by one Indian company, and they decided to implement a policy regarding the issue. Now, the employees calling coworkers in their free time will have to pay a fine of 1 lakh.
Dream 11 Unplug
Indian fantasy sports company, Dream 11, has adopted this interesting policy called Dream 11 Unplug to deal with this problem of the employees.
Dream 11 said that they implemented this policy because “We understand that spending quality time with loved ones or just relaxing altogether on vacation, can immensely improve the overall mood, quality of life, productivity in general and more.“

What Is The Policy?
Under this policy, the employees can be completely cut off from work for 1 week. All the office conversations on emails, calls, Slack, or WhatsApp can be suspended for a week without any pressure from the company. From freshers to top-position employees, everyone is entitled to unplug themselves from office work once a year in this techno unicorn.
According to a report by CNBC.com, founders of Dream 11, Harsh Jain and Bhavit Seth have asserted that if any employee reaches out to another employee in their UNPLUG time, then he/she has to pay a fine of 1 lakh.
What Do Dreamsters Have To Say?
The company also shared various testimonials on LinkedIn. The employees are currently working in the Mumbai office of the company. A testimonial reads, “Unplugged helped me take that necessary strategic timeout & come back stronger to play the further innings more productively.”
A dream employee also said, “Allowing employees to cut off from all company systems and groups is one of the best perks one can get. We are not bothered with work calls, emails, messages, or even WhatsApp for seven days. This helps us spend some quality time doing what we love.”
Dream 11 was founded in 2008. It has more than 15 crore users at present. In 2020, it became the title sponsor for the Indian Premier League (IPL).
