Any ancient sex toy was much more than just a sex aid, they had versatile uses ranging from lighting fires to sealing corpses. Their versatile uses also convey another important message about how sexual-identities have been changing and evolving over time.
In some orthodox religions, pleasure through sexual aids is considered a sin till date. Many societies are still evolving and starting to accept sex toys while in some countries like Bhutan and China phallic objects are revered as good luck charms.
They have been constantly evolving through the ages and maybe they’ve been in play before the first civilization and its remains are yet to be discovered. Who knows?
