What-up everyone? It’s your girl IISuperwomanII!
Spontaneous. Stomach-hurting-humour. One-love. Trending. Internet sensation. Never a dull moment. Evergreen; is only a gist of the qualities that define SUPERWOMAN a.k.a Lilly Singh, a YouTube comedian hailing from Canada.
Since her childhood, Lilly Singh wanted to be some sort of entertainer but was unsure of which path to pursue. In order to do so, she came up with the concept of Superwoman at the age of eleven but decided to turn it into reality only in 2010, by taking up the risky career of being a YouTuber.
So, for me, as for many others my age, I think most of us have a broad but similar opinion of who she really is and what she means to us. So, to begin with, let’s go basic:
- A NEW HIGH
Basically, if you’re depressed or just majorly pissed off at someone, all you need to do, is watch one of her videos where she’s portraying the character of her parents – Paramjeet and Manjeet- and I can guarantee this, that once you’ve started, you won’t want to stop (Fittey mooh tere! *curse you!*).
Not just that, but her other videos which depict real life events, her role-plays and her spot-on artist impressions get your eyes-watering and stomach-aching for a long, long time (Hain!).
- LAUGH, BECAUSE YOU DESERVE TO
Yes, that’s what she teaches us. Lilly Singh has a one-point agenda to all problems and mind you, take her advice very seriously because Shemurr!
Got a problem? – Shemurr!
Failed in an exam? – Shemurr, then study, then Shemurr some more.
Wanna bitch-slap that ho’? – Well, what are you waiting for? Go give her the best Shemurr of her life across her sorry face with your ‘Jooti’!
A friend in need? – Shemurr all their problems away!
DDLJ, Kuch kuch hota hai, etc? – *sob* Shemurr *sob*
Superwoman quite literally teaches us that there’s more to life than sitting and sobbing about a relationship gone bad or nagging parents, and no, she doesn’t just pull this out of thin air and faff about it like a psychological expert; she does it because she’s been through more than you can imagine (courtesy: Draw my life) and no person would motivate people to have an optimistic approach about every aspect of life unless they’ve seen the lows and emerged victorious.
3. AND WE ALL ARE JUST SIMPLY AWESOMESAUCE!
Picking up topics based on true events we all face in reality she gives them a new relatable twist. With a cup of humour, a quarter-plate of odd-faces and a tea-spoon of sarcasm, we all have no choice but to roll on our bellies in pain along with a laugh in our voice.
Be it her wig wearing, parent impersonations, blonde-girl a.k.a ‘gori’ girl character or her brother’s odd-behavioural patterns, she comes up with these hyper-active-super-sonic-straight-from-unicorn-land completely new types of acts which are so accurately based on our day-to-day activities, that now, knowing all around this planet, there are people just like us and we aren’t the only dysfunctional lot, makes us feel like normal. Thus, Superwoman makes us completely AWESOMESAUCE!
4. WELCOME TO UNICORN LAND, WHERE WE ALL POOP RAINBOWS!
Yes, you heard it right; unicorn land is her major fascination. According to Lilly, all her fan-followers and the good people out there belong to Unicorn land with fields of candy and rivers of chocolate (and yes, this is way better than Strawberry Shortcake!). So basically, she means to put a smile on our faces, having us believe that Unicorns really do exist, and that too, within each one of us. Each of us have the ability to be as strong and magical but at the same time being gentle with a touch of humanity.*insert smart emoji*
There is nothing that waiver’s her grit; nothing that makes her doubt her capability and nothing that makes us doubt her up-beat nature. Be it hanging out with her equally odd but likeable friends or taking us through her life via her Daily Vlogs, she is the same with everybody. One would think that Superwoman is just a façade she puts up during the video-session, but NO! It most definitely is real! She’s a crazy-tom-boy-who-loves-make-up-but-will-whoop-your-ass-if-need-be kinda girl and will stop at nothing to make her surroundings electrical, not to mention she’s a big hit with Indian celebrities and Youtubers (All India Bakchod)
And by crazy, I mean absolutely coo-coo (in the best way possible)!
5. WHAT WE FEEL:
Being a major fan and supporter of Team Super, I can personally write with pride and honour that when her video or vlog is up, my work goes down the drain, and life comes to a standstill and I.Must.Watch.That.Ish! So, where all ‘do’ we watch her videos?
Sitting in a lecture? Check
Crossing the road and causing major road blocks? Check
Walking on the footpaths and into lamp-posts? Double Check!

And while cracking world-changing-Nobel-prize-winning ideas on the throne: Yeah…not proud but check…heehee!
Well, so, the other day I was cleaning my room and all I could remember was: how would Lilly do it? And I ended up looking like something on the lines of:

Then came the dreaded ice-bucket challenge, and me being me, I chickened out. But! Wait! Superwoman didn’t. She did it with wacky dance to be precise and I felt ashamed!
