‘Hera Pheri’ the madcap comedy caper of 2000 starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal has become a cult film over the years.
Revolving around a quirky, kind-hearted garage owner Baburao Ganpatrao Apte (Rawal), a cunning loafer Raju (Kumar) and a struggling pauper Shyam (Shetty), it is Priyadarshan’s most praised film.
While its eccentric situational humour had won the hearts of people upon its initial release, the movie has become a favourite of Indian memesters who pull out a ‘Hera Pheri’ reference like magicians pull a rabbit out of a hat on every occasion.

The best news for the lovers of this movie is that a third instalment of the film is in the making featuring the original star cast. A sequel of the film had hit the theatres in 2006 and with its rip-roaring storyline had garnered the same response as the original film.
According to a report in Entertainment Portal, Bollywood Hungama, the producer of the third instalment Firoz Nadiadwala said that the film is all set to release soon, with the original star cast.
“The story is in place, and we are working on certain modalities. It’ll be made in the same way, retaining the innocence of the characters. We can’t take past achievements for granted. So, we have to be extra careful in terms of our content, story, screenplay, characters, mannerism etc,” said Nadiadwala.
However, the process of making Hera Pheri 3 happen is a whole different story and we have gathered facts on them:
- A lot of claims were made about having Priyan direct the third instalment of the movie which never ended up happening.
- Eventually, Hera Pheri 3 was supposed to be filmed in 2015 with John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Paresh Raval. However, it was stopped due to Neeraj Vora’s health taking a beating, he then passed away.
- Akshay Kumar denied the claims of Hera Pheri 3 coming back again in 2019 saying “Hera Pheri 3 is not happening. We are writing something else. It’s in the comedy zone.”
- Firoz Nadiadwala finally confirmed the third instalment in his latest interview with the original cast on board with successive delays in order to not compromise on the quality of the script and to ensure it retains the original flavour.
