Not a lot of American news is able to break the deafening wall of noise that is the Indian news media. One of the few things that we do know is that the President is one Donald Trump, an ahem ahem non-conventional president.
He is not your normal president, he has been involved in numerous controversies and has been called out, both by the media there and other world leaders.
Before I proceed, dear readers, Yes. It is possible to criticize the leader of your country without being branded an urban naxal.
Anyway, here are some of the occasions where Donald Trump has been criticized by world leaders
1. French President Emmanuel Macron
So this was more of an indirect dig taken by Macron at 100 year anniversary of the day that World War I ended. He said, “Patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism, nationalism is a betrayal of patriotism”.
This was a dig at Trump and his nationalist policies which shun the international order and threaten to take us back to a set of circumstances that led to WWI.
2. German Chancellor Angela Merkel
Trump and Merkel have had a rocky relationship from the beginning, with Trump criticizing Merkel’s policies and even going as far as to say that she was “Ruining Germany”.
I told you @TIME Magazine would never pick me as person of the year despite being the big favorite They picked person who is ruining Germany

Merkel has responded back in kind. At the NATO summit, she said,
“The times in which we can fully count on others are somewhat over, as I have experienced in the past few days.”
3. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
After the US imposed tariffs on aluminum and steel that was being imported from Canada, Justin Trudeau criticized Trump by saying
“For 150 years, Canada has been America’s most steadfast ally,” “We came to America’s aid after 9/11. “
“We have to believe that at some point, common sense will prevail. But we see no sign of that.”

4. Former US President Barack Obama
Donald Trump and Barack Obama have been at it for years. Back when Trump was still a harmless reality show celebrity, he participated in a row about whether then President Obama was actually born in America or not.
Obama has taken digs at trump throughout the 2016 election campaign, His most recent one was at a rally in Milwaukee where he targeted Trump’s statements in which he blatantly lied to the public regarding a tax cut.
5. Former US First Lady Michelle Obama
In her forthcoming memoir “Becoming”, Obama said she will “never forgive” Trump. Her fury stems from Trump’s attempts to propagate the unfounded rumor her husband was born outside the US and therefore ineligible to be President. She said his “reckless innuendos” risked her family’s safety.
6. Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto
Throughout his election campaign, Trump claimed that he would build a wall along the southern border with Mexico to stop the illegal immigration that was supposedly driving up crime and drugs in the country. He even said that Mexico would pay for it.
The President, Enrique Pena Nieto tweeted a resounding denial of this claim.
President @realDonaldTrump: NO. Mexico will NEVER pay for a wall. Not now, not ever.
Sincerely, Mexico (all of us).

7. Literally everyone at the UN General Assembly
During a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, Trump gave a speech in which he claimed that his administration had “accomplished more than almost any … in the history of our country”.
Instead of the round of applause that he was expecting, the president received a round of…laughter from the delegates present there.
