When you think of controversy, there are some names that are at the top of the list, constantly in one and at this point, we are not even surprised nor bothered by what nonsense they are involved in.
But then there are some names that when they pop up are quite a surprise to us, considering their low-key personality, which is what happened when news of Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal being getting criticism online came out.
Apparently, the former MP had at a Gujarat rally recently managed to offend both Gujaratis and Bengalis at the same time with his comments.
What Happened With Paresh Rawal?
On Thursday, Paresh Rawal, a known actor from Indian cinema, was addressing a rally in Gujarat while he was campaigning for BJP in Gujarat’s Valsad. Speaking to the audience he said “Gas cylinders are expensive but they will come down. People will get employment too. But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi? What will you do with gas cylinders? Cook fish for the Bengalis?”

He also reportedly said that “Way they deliver verbal abuses. A person among them needs to wear a diaper on his mouth,” allegedly regarding the immigrants. This did not go down well with people who took to social media to call out Rawal for his insulting comments.

Trinamool Congress leader Kirti Azad in a tweet wrote “Babu Bhai, aap to aise na the! If Bangladeshis and Rohingyas are entering India, it means that Amit Shah as Home Minister is not doing his job properly. Paresh Rawal, are you saying BSF doesn’t gaurd the borders properly?”
Realising the anger of people, Rawal did eventually release an apology, somewhat, stating that “Of course the fish is not the issue AS GUJARATIS DO COOK AND EAT FISH . BUT LET ME CLARIFY BY BENGALI I MEANT ILLEGAL BANGLA DESHI N ROHINGYA. BUT STILL IF I HAVE HURT YOUR FEELINGS AND SENTIMENTS I DO APOLOGISE.”
It seems that even Gujarati people are not happy with Rawal’s comments, as one Twitter user posted a video of him amongst a crowd and wrote “Gujarati people outraged against BJP campaigner Paresh Rawal for inflation and unemployment, and forced him to leave.”
Another Twitter user wrote that “So Paresh Rawal openly spreads hate against us Bengalis for eating fish. Won’t the CM at least register a protest ? Won’t we ?”
