The International Olympic Committee is introducing its first Olympic Virtual Series today, starting a month of serious play across video game recreations of baseball, sailing, rowing, cycling, and motorsport.
What Is This New Trend?
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will cooperate with five International Sports Federations (IFs) and game distributors to create the Olympic Virtual Series (OVS), an Olympic-authorized occasion for physical and virtual games.
Occurring in front of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, the Olympic Virtual Series(OVS) will start on 13 May, proceeding through to 23 June 2021.

Several IFs have well-established virtual sports initiatives; and thanks to the cooperation between the IOC, the IFs, and the publishers, the OVS is an exciting step forward for the virtual sports world and the Olympic Movement”.
Who Will Accompany This?
The accompanying International Federations(IF) and gaming distributors, essential for the Olympic Virtual Series, will be:
– World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) – e-Baseball Powerful Pro Baseball 2020, Konami Digital Entertainment
– Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) – Zwift, Zwift inc.
– World Rowing – Open format
– World Sailing – Virtual Regatta, Virtual Regatta SAS
– Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) – Gran Turismo, Polyphony Digital
