In the era of digitization social media has revamped its look over time, today it’s not just a source of sharing images or connecting with your close ones. It has emerged as a medium of saving people’s lives by connecting to millions in seconds. Through this pandemic, social media has helped zillions of people in saving the lives of their loved ones. Garnering love on Instagram, Lifestyle & Travel blogger Irfan Siddique through the platform has helped more than 1000 people. Irfan Siddique who goes by handle name as @IrfanSiddiqueOfficial has 132K followers and says it is the best community he knows of.
The second wave created chaos in people’s lives as it led to the death of thousands of people in a single day. Lack of oxygen cylinders, beds & no proper medical facility built a situation of havoc and people seeking help from each other. Looking at the same Irfan continued to post about everything at all hours of the day and night. As soon as he had any information on a person in need, he would put it on his story and recruit volunteers to assist them.
Catering to the increasing need for plasma, he looked for people who could donate plasma and searched for varied contacts who could provide oxygen refilling. He even collected many leads from different cities and uploaded them on Instagram, tagging various people so that they could be re-shared.
While he was tagging different people from different locations, it helped various people across cities and he emerged as a lifesaver. Feeling happy about the same, Irfan said “ I feel that being on Instagram has not just benefitted me individually, but I am able to help a lot of people just by being at home. This makes me happy and proud at the same moment that I could save the lives of people just through a single share. And, even in future, I would contribute to the same for different causes whatever would be possible from my end.” For me it’s all about community. It won’t have been possible without my Instagram community.
Many of us use Instagram stories for entertainment, but they may also be utilized to aid others and provide information when needed. As the world requires assistance at this time, one should be inspired by Irfan, who demonstrated that social media is more than just a source of amusement and can be utilized for a variety of objectives.
