India has achieved an all-time high by successfully completing its IndiGen Project. Undertaken by the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), this project marks the beginning of a new era of enhanced genetic understanding.
The IndiGen Project employs the methods of genome sequencing to map out all the genomes i.e., a person’s entire set of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). Genome sequencing, put in simple terms is figuring out the order of DNA bases in a genome.

CSIR believes that with the success of the IndiGen project, genome sequencing costs can come down to as low as ₹ 14,000 in the coming years. Thus, our country can indeed look forward to a brighter, healthier and prosperous future, thanks to the efforts of our dedicated scientific community.
