Movies have become an integral part of our social life. They not only act as a mirror to society but also play a huge role in influencing society and bringing about social change.
Its depiction of places, people and scenarios hugely influence how they are perceived in reality. With changing times there have also been changes in the way things are portrayed in cinema.
Unfortunately, when it comes to the portrayal of women, Indian Cinema especially Bollywood still has a long way to go. Over the years women have mostly been portrayed as supporting characters having hundreds of stereotypes associated with them.
Even today Bollywood portrays women as eye candies, arm candies of the male protagonist and nothing more than mere props while their male counterparts are shown to hold valuable positions in the social workforce.
