S.S. Rajamouli’s epic movie “RRR” has been making history across the world, least not by winning the Golden Globe award for the “Naatu Naatu” song.

The song won the Best Original Song, Motion Picture category and is the first time to go to an Indian song with Composer M.M. Keeravani, and singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava winning it.

The director Rajamouli, and the film’s leads Ram Charan and NTR Jr along with some other members from the film have been on tour in the USA promoting the film and having screenings met with a lot of applause and joyous uproar.

The RRR team was present at Hollywood’s Beverly Hilton Hotel where the Golden Globes award ceremony was held and they walked the red carpet too. But while the movie itself has been met with nothing but acclaim, one particular caught the desi eye back home giving them some laughs, it being Jr NTR’s strange accent.

Jr NTR’s Accent Mocked

SS Rajamoulis, Ram Charan, Jr NTR and more all walked the red carpet at the Golden Globe awards and spoke to the media present there. However, while answering about the film RRR, the song Naatu Naatu nominated and their own aspirations for their career and what they want to do now, people noticed the bizarre accent of Jr NTR.

A lot of people mocked and trolled his accent, saying that it was strange and he should have stuck to his natural one.

Twitter user @panfusine even added that “the classic accent of a newly minted IIT alumnus (on their first visit back to the ‘des’ ) after the first year at an American grad school!! We should let him have his moment.”

Another user @joshuakarthikr wrote that “NTR Jr is every Telugu kid in the 90s who never went abroad but had an American accent because his cousins live in Americaaaa”.

Although with the mockery, there were even several who supported Jr NTR and his choice to take on an accent.

One thing that is interesting about this whole thing is the kind of double standards shown here. Both Ram Charan and Jr NTR are being supported by more people than being trolled for taking on an accent, however, when several years ago Priyanka Chopra was doing press in the US, she was brutally trolled and memed for her own accent.
