Since the 23rd of February, Muslims residing in the north-east of Delhi became the victims of a series of violent attacks by radical Hindus/extremists.
Though it gained nationwide attention through tons of media coverage, it further only proves that no amount of truth exposed is going to threaten the support received by right-wing idealists: especially in a country that majorly consists of people with such orthodox political and social beliefs.
It Takes Little To Nothing To Start A Riot:
Through a series of interviews by a journalist from The Caravan, with Manju Singh and other Brahmins of the Gokalpuri area, one thing becomes very clear: many of them possess so much hate for reasons that clearly have no definite proof.
Most of their justification consisted of excuses clearly filtered by hearing through third-parties. To be Hindu is okay, but to have the concept of Hindutva is manifested in your mind so deeply that it engulfs your very spirit of being a brethren to your fellow Indians? Nuh-no.
Major claims of these extremists and the journalist’s findings (as reported by The Caravan) are as follows:
- 1. Muslims were the initial attackers 2. There were no signs of violence, unlike the claims made.
- 1. An IPS officer was killed by Muslims. 2. There were no reported cases.
According to them, the violence was instigated when someone threw a beer bottle at a mob, which served as a sufficient enough reason for them to burn down all the houses and shops owned by Muslims.
India doesn’t belong to Hindus, nor does it belong to anyone else. It is a stand-alone country that we merely sustain in. Radical Hindus like these Brahmins that were interviewed from Gokalpuri not only drag others down with their non-secular mindsets, but also instill fear within their own community.
During one of the mob riots, a Gokalpuri Hindu family accidentally became victim to homelessness when Muslim shops were targeted. Do you think they would still trust the people of their own religion now? These “Hindus” are a threat to Hindus themselves. No one is safe in this country. Ego-centric people like these lose their rationality little by little as their common sense is slowly replaced by hate.
This series of incidents may be contained within north-east Delhi primarily, but one should realize that this group of people represent the millions of blind upholders of the right-wing ideologies. In a constitutionally acclaimed “secular” nation, it is only alarming to learn about the vast amount of intolerance.
It’s Not Patriotism, It’s Intolerance:
It could be either of the religion that’s in the bad end: it should be nationally declared as common sense (with the number of insensible monstrosities, I’m not even trying to make a joke) that the whole problem lies with only a certain number of people who are guilty of instigating such riots. It is more sensible to clear out disagreements through non-violent protests, telecasted debates, and mainly proof-checking and reasoning out any news heard.
I don’t know much about cause-effect relationships, but it is safe to say that if this kind of extreme and life-threatening violence were to continue for a significant period of time, then it may turn the country into a real battleground.
It already is a battleground though, minus the negative impact on trade, urban security, and rations. But imagine if these factors were also to come into play. This thought is not something far-fetched, considering the fact that politics-influenced religious wars now run in a country that is appreciated globally for its diversity.
How can a “developing” country like India become a superpower when the country is not socially and morally developing? Can any progressive decisions regarding technology and education be made, or be effective, if all that people can consistently contribute is hate?

A Dystopic India Is Not Far From Fiction:
If India were to become a superpower the way the government talks about, then combining the decisions taken regarding this with the current scenario will only result in a highly-developed country (in terms of commerce, education, and technology) in a dystopia.
I would compare a dystopian society to the news about the wall being built in front of the slums in Ahmedabad so Trump couldn’t see the prevalent poverty. Things will seem top-notch, but hidden behind will lie the suffering of the powerless.
