The Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6, were released earlier this year by the South Korean automakers Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp.
They immediately tore up the sales charts, passing the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Bolt, and every other electric vehicle on the market that isn’t made by Tesla.
Despite the fact that Tesla still sells a lot more automobiles, it took the business ten years to produce as many electric cars as Hyundai and Kia have in only a few short months. Even Elon himself was quite impressed!
Hyundai is certainly not a startup. Additionally, according to Steve Kosowski, manager of long-range planning at Kia America, the design of the current hits began roughly six years ago.
When the Chevrolet Bolt first came out, Kia thought about creating a vehicle with a similar size and scope. Kosowski and colleagues ultimately approved something more bigger, sportier, and swankier—albeit at a somewhat greater cost.

Through the month of May this year, Hyundai and Kia sold 21,467 of these two vehicles in the US, outpacing even the hotly anticipated Ford Mustang Mach-E, which was purchased by 15,718 motorists.
Joseph Yoon, the Edmunds analyst says, “From an EV perspective, they’re really just kind of cleaning the floor.”
Both the Ioniq 5 and the EV6 have the cargo room of a compact SUV, a vehicle type that has recently been popular in US garages because of its size and design.
Both vehicles use the same modular structure, have identical motors and batteries, and have similar speed ratings. They have fancy displays and have among the quickest charging times in the business, adding about 16 miles of range in a minute under ideal circumstances.
The time worked out well. Due to rising petroleum prices and environmental concerns, EV usage is increasing in the US. Even if there is a shortage of battery-powered cars, there are still few to select from.
