Maneka Gandhi believes that women should be confined to hostels because “hormonal imbalances” rokne chahiye. Interestingly, hormones only mean estrogen and not testosterone.
While we were busy celebrating achievements of women on March 8, an engineering college exactly proved why India is still miles away from achieving an egalitarian society in terms of gender.
All hail Misogyny!
The issue
A student uploaded a video on YouTube on January 23, 2017* in which he targeted the “top institutions” for supporting the mentality of caging women. The curfew system, clearly does not go down well with some male residents of this engineering college hostel, where they enjoy unprecedented freedom but their female counterparts always hang on the noose of time.
The video debunks all those insecurities the societies have with setting women free – baal colour karwaane lagengi, chhote kapde pehenne lagengi, etc.
Obviously the authorities were furious because the student was supporting unsanskaar-ing of women.
The result?
He has been given a notice from the authorities for his eviction from the hotel premises.
Not only that, the authorities were very considerate because people who assisted the student (2 of them) in making the video, have been met with the same fate.
The video in question
The repercussions
The student is not only suspended from the hostel but he is also expelled from the college society because interestingly he had also “misbehaved with the Warden Council”.
These three students are barred from entering hostels and students who provide them shelter will face severe action from the administration.
In this twisted turn of events which made this seem more like a Bigg Boss setup, the admin has proved that supporting women’s liberation does not suit engineering colleges because they will be faced with the most unthinkable consequences.
Hello darkness, my old friend
This action taken by the administration is specifically meant to discourage male students from speaking for the rights of the female students in the college. It helps in decimating the population that stands in support of women’s movement and quieting their demands for freedom.
Pahlaj Nihalani does not want women-oriented films, and saffronised college authorities do not want feminism-oriented men.
Obviously, it is the general paranoia of women attaining sexual freedom.
The media will probably not cover this issue because it is not as eye-catching since the students weren’t “anti-nationals”.
If freedom is an organised religion, this engineering college should first be tried for blasphemy and then for apostasy.

Instead of making the current generations aware about the sex through a friendly sex education system.
Educational institutions on the directions of their masters have resorted on curtaling the freedom of women as a solution to it.
Since if she will be allowed due freedom, it might pollute the society in general.
Even the one who raise the voice in their favour would also be caged as the girls have been.
This is truly a dracnoian policy. It’s time to
Pinjra Tod again.
Delhi is not safe. Girls needs to be protected. Police is not effective in protecting the capital of India. I being a guy have faced bike snatching (which i escaped) at around 12:00 AM. My friend escaped car snatching so what will happen to an innocent girl is quite imaginable. 16th dec 2012 incident still shocks me whenever i get reminded of it. An analogy to this is if there is an electric barbed wire and if someone forcibly stops you to go near then it will not be called violation of right to freedom. The term freedom is misinterpreted by the youth. Yes there should be some leverage given in case of intra-university interactions but certain checks and procedures should be considered before leaving for somewhere outside at such time.
Narrative skills are excellent in this video. You have a bright future ahead.
