Who Were The Main Gainers Of The List?

The list came as a surprise, as millennial singers were not able to not garner such streaming numbers and create such a record. BTS recorded 7.95 billion streams, while BLACKPINK had 7.03 billion. Both made it to the top ten.

The Weeknd took the 13th spot with 5.03 billion streams. Taylor Swift, with 4.33 billion streams, grabbed the 26th position, and Drake, with 2.9 billion, was in the 50th place.

Alka Yagnik- The Leading Lady In Music Industry

Alka Yagnik was a leading Bollywood playback singer in the 90s, with hundreds of songs to her credit. She is one of the female Bollywood vocalists with the maximum number of solo songs. She still leads with a mellifluous voice. Yagnik has recorded over 20,000 songs in various languages.

She did playback singing for the leading actresses of their times, like Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla, Sridevi, and others. Her biggest hits include Pardesi Pardesi, Gazab Ka Hai Din, Taal Se Taal Mila, and more recently, Agar Tum Saath Ho.

The top streaming accolade is not new. She has also received several honors, such as two National Film Awards, and seven Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer. Twenty of her songs have been featured in the BBC’s list of the top Bollywood soundtracks of all time.

This is the potential of the Indian music industry that has gone international due to the increased number of global entertainment platforms. The evergreen music of the 90s has truly proved why it is called so.
