The world’s cheapest power steering hatchback just got cheaper! Yes we indeed are talking of Tata Nano.
Tata has been constantly witnessing the drop in sales of their cheapest car and in order to combat that, they have landed with a new variant- Tata Nano Twist XE. The company is trying hard to keep up the promise made by Mr. Ratan Tata to deliver the cheapest car ever made which can be afforded by any low-middle class family.
Exterior and Interior:
The exteriors of the car are largely unchanged with most of the improvement lie in driving, amenities and connectivity. The new XE will carry black colored front bumpers, ORVMs and door handles opposite of what we saw in premium Nano XT.
Inside we have-
- Standard ebony black dashboard
- 3 spoke power steering wheel
- Centrally positioned air-conditioner vents with heater
- Front console cup holders
- Cabin lamp
- Front and rear seat headrests
- Driver seat height adjustability
- Front and rear assist grips
- Low fuel warning lamp
- Foldable rear seats
- Basic fabric seats
But to cut the prices a lot of features as seen on the top-end Tata Nano XT have been taken off from this car. The things that have ditched off include-
- Chrome accents
- Roof-mounted antenna
- Fog lamps
- Rear spoiler
- Stylish wheel caps
- Keyless entry with central locking
- Power windows
- In-dash audio system
- Rear parcel tray
The new Tata Nano Twist XE is available in three body colours – Meteor Silver, Royal Gold, and Serene White.
Engine:
Under the hood, it is the same two cylinder 624cc petrol engine which produces 37bhp and 51Nm of maximum torque. A four speed manual gearbox has been attached which dissipates power to the rear axle. The model claims an impressive mileage figure of 25.35 kmpl which is very important in this segment of cars.
Safety:
As far as safety is concerned, the homegrown manufacturer has equipped the new Nano with some basic features like all four seat belts, booster assisted brakes, center high mount stop lamps and intrusion beam, which has been incorporated in the vehicle door assembly to dampen the effect on any impact.
Pricing:
Priced at Rs 2.09 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) the Tata Nano Twist XE is positioned below the top-end Tata Nano Twist XT which costs Rs 2.45 lakh, undercutting it by Rs 36,000 which is exactly the catch here and may attract a lot of buyers.
Overall Twist XE is a more decent and neater package than before. The small exteriors of the car now with EPAS (Electronic Power Assisted System), aggressive pricing and good fuel efficiency make it an absolute choice for the people who are looking for an entry level hatchback car in India.
The R&D department of Tata is also working hard to install a new automatic transmission (AMT) technology to ease the city driving and a new turbocharged engine to the people who like a little punch and peppiness in their drives. Let’s hope these steps work well for the organization and boost the sales of the car.
