After 25 long years, one of the most iconic Hindi soap operas in the history of Indian television entertainment is back. Yes, the second season of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is here now, and people online definitely are using the moment to show their reactions in real time.
The iconic TV show that once defined Indian television is returning with Season 2, promising to revive not just the Virani family saga, but also the legacy of characters who became household names in the early 2000s.
Created by Ekta Kapoor and produced under the Balaji Telefilms banner, the original show aired from 2000 to 2008.
The show is back for a limited run only, though, spanning 150 episodes. The reason for this is also related to the show’s original run, where, as per Ekta Kapoor, the show had ended just 150 episodes short of the 2000-episode mark.
Kapoor said, “The love we have for this program brought everyone related to it back together to complete just those 150 episodes to reach that 2000 episode. This show deserves that.”
A lot of the original cast is back, the biggest name of course being Smriti Irani, who has reprised her role of Tulsi Virani. However, there are also many faces missing so far. Faces that once essayed beloved characters, either due to real-life departures or creative choices.
Here, we take a look at who’s officially back for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2, and who’s not returning, particularly from the OG cast members.

There is also clearly a very nostalgic element to this second season, with a lot of millennials and even mothers of those millennials reminiscing about their time of watching the show’s original run. Many millennials remember eating their dinner while their mothers would have the TV on, showing KSBKBT’s episode.
The Gen-Z might be tuning in out of pure curiosity, which makes sense considering how many pop culture moments the show has birthed and is still being used in memes and parodies.
