The name Ruchi Gujjar is making headlines these days, following the viral release of a video in which she is seen throwing a sandal at producer Karan Singh Chauhan.
Gujjar, who is a model and actress in Bollywood, assaulted the producer and director at the premiere of the film So Long Valley on Friday, and was related to a financial dispute of Rs 23 lakh.
But why did the actress take such a step, and who is Ruchi Gujjar?
What Happened With The Model-Actress?
Ruchi Gujjar, in her viral moment, was reported to be accusing producer Karan Singh Chauhand and director Man Singh of defrauding her out of Rs 23 lakh by making false promises. She appeared at the premiere of the crime-thriller movie So Long Valley on July 25, 2025, and proceeded to make her allegation in front of the public and media.
According to various clips of the moment, Gujjar was seen arguing with the producer and director; the director also angrily responded to her, and then the model slapped and even threw her sandal at him.
Just a few days before, on July 24, 2025, Gujjar had also filed an FIR at the Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai, accusing the producer Karan Singh Chauhan and the team of the film of defrauding her of Rs 23 lakh.
She alleged that this was after they made false promises to her about a TV project, on-screen credit, and a share in the profits.
A police official confirming the FIR, as per reports, has stated that “The complainant said the project never materialised and Singh didn’t return her money.”
Co-producer and director Man Singh, however, has dismissed her allegations as just a “publicity stunt.” Speaking with PTI, he said, “Model Ruchi Gujjar and Karan Singh know each other very well. If she paid some amount to Karan for our movie, she should provide the evidence. It’s a publicity stunt, nothing else.”

According to an IANS report, Gujjar has been charged under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) such as criminal intimidation, assault, and obstruction.
Who Is Ruchi Gujjar?
Ruchi Gujjar is a model-turned-actress who was born in Mehara Gujarwas village, called Neem Ka Thana, in Rajasthan.
Her family background is that of a traditional Gujjar family, and she graduated with a BBA degree from Jaipur’s Maharani College, post which she moved to Mumbai to explore a career in the entertainment industry.
Her first foray into the world of fame was when she won the Miss Haryana title in 2023. She also worked as a model and actor in various music videos. In 2022, she featured in the music video (MV) of the viral song “Ek Ladki” along with actor Aman Verma.
Besides this, she was seen in the MV of the Haryanvi Song “Heli Main Chor” and Toshi Sabri’s 2024 song “Jab Tu Meri Na Rahi.”
Her biggest viral moment before this sandal incident was her appearance at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. Gujjar wore a traditional gold Rajasthani lehenga and a Bandhani dupatta, but the pièce de résistance was a gold necklace with three separate images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi set within a lotus design.
Gujjar has also previously spoken about her conservative family and her struggles to make a name for herself. In an interview with BollywoodMDB, she said, “Since I belong to a Gujjar family, there, women are not allowed to work as I am working.”
She further said, “It was difficult to change how people think about women working in Bollywood. I want to be an inspiration in our community, who fought against the will of people’s thoughts. And I am the only one from my community who has come so far in the Bollywood industry.”
