Tom Cruise is quite a polarising figure, while some worship at his feet for his acting talents, especially in the action genre there are others who couldn’t be bothered by his talents and have major issues with his ideologies, primarily his loyalty toward Scientology.
But all the same, Tom Cruise is still one of the biggest stars around the globe and especially luxury brands would never turn him away considering he’s among the few percentage of people that can afford to buy their items.
Amongst all this then, the bit about the luxurious French car brand Bugatti having banned Cruise from its clientele is quite bizarre. What could be the reason for this ban in the first place?
Tom Cruise Banned By Bugatti
Tom Cruise, like any wealthy person has an impressive collection of automobiles consisting of ones like the 1949 Buick Roadmaster, Saleen Mustang, a 1958 Chevrolet Corvette C1, BMW 7 Series trim and more. His Mission Impossible film series also features a bevy of luxury fast cars that are the envy of many.
So it made sense when Tom Cruise appeared for the premier of the “Mission Impossible 3” film in the Bugatti Veyron. He’d just recently bought the vehicle also called the world’s fastest road-legal car in 2005 for just around a million dollars.
Tom Cruise was actually one of the first high-profile customers of that particular car model but things changed when in 2006 Cruise entered the premier for the film in the car.
Bugatti for sure thought it would get the best publicity of their career with thousands of people present and the press both domestic and international present, catching every bit of their car and name plastered on it. The only thing that could lead all this astray was a stubborn door it seems.
The video had gone viral at the time.

Tom Cruise was able to get out of the car from his own side without much trouble, but when he tried to open the door for his then wife Katie Holmes, the door would not budge. In the video, he struggled for quite a few tries before the door finally gave way and Holmes was able to exit the car too.
While Bugatti has never officially made a statement on this matter, however, it is rumoured to be this incident that got Cruise blacklisted by the car brand. Bugatti reportedly felt that this was a bad look for the car and the brand and as per a report by Marca “decided not to sell any Bugatti model zero kilometers to Tom Cruise ever again, including him in a black list”.
Bugatti like any luxury car brand has some code of conduct and regulations for who can own their vehicles and surprisingly Tom Cruise is not the only one banned by them.
While the brand is not as strict in its clientele as some other luxury car brands, it still has some limits and people like music producer Simon Cowell, musician Flo Rida, F1 driver Jenson Button and more.
