Eight-year-old Puneet Kaur does not mind getting up with the birds and catching her dream to be the #1 Roller Skating Champion. Now a mother and CEO of Its Healthy Moms, an online Diet, Nutrition Consultancy, and Health Coaching platform believes, “when something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.” Puneet Kaur developed her interest in roller skating when she was a child, and soon this interest developed into a never-ending list of competitions and tournaments. She won her first medal in 1997 in the District Roller Skating Championship, Ludhiana, under the category of 300m & 500m speed skating. She won 2 medals in 1997, and since then it has been her only love. Year after year, she brought back medals and trophies, winning in the state district as well as national level competitions. Only a handful of students got selected for Roller Skating from every state. And Puneet Kaur was one of them.
Puneet Kaur, from a young age, had an inclination towards sports and physical activities. Her competitive nature and healthy sportsperson spirit made her stand out and shine.”Initially, I used to practice 3-4 hours a day, it gradually increased, and the intensity along with it. I used to get a lot of injuries, arm, knee, ankle, and what not but I could never give up on skating,” she said. Certainly, even the hint of rain in the sky did not dampen her enthusiasm for skating. Hailing from Ludhiana, she began to live and breathe Skating. She won her first National Silver Medal organized by the Roller Skating Federation of India, RSFI, in 2004 when she was in 10th standard. In the competition, she represented Punjab at the 42ND National Championship that took place in Faridabad, Haryana.
Roller skating is not just an adventure-filled sport but is also a perfect way to remain in shape. Puneet Kaur worked hard and bagged medals and trophies, securing top positions continuously from the year 1997 till 2006. She was blessed with a supportive environment, where everyone supported her dreams and valued her efforts. Even the school in which she studied, Sacred Heart Convent School, pushed students to focus on sports as well along with studies. Kudos to people like Puneet Kaur who have brought fame to their name as well as to their state!
